I was horrified to learn from my HCW daughter that there is something called "curtain precautions." It consists of keeping the bedside curtains of infectious patients closed at all times to protect their roommates. It's an actual thing. (My daughter is horrified by it too, BTW.)

it should be pointed down at the floor from above their door then — it’s a safety issue for your neighbour to know precisely when you leave or come back

not to mention - it’s fair to ask what even counted as ‘germany’ at that point or how occupation worked. or the level of persecution in other countries regardless of occupation

i love how every other security guard is able to subtly guide the guests with zero issue and then she just encroaches a hand 2 inches from their face
@demoninhibiteur
as a somewhat indigenous person i hate it. (1) they don’t do it at “serious” talks and (2) it really leans heavily on ~mystical~ cultural difference tropes that kind of devalue actual fn people in the room :/
@JakeAnbinder
among other things i don’t see how all the emphasis on how “foreign “ and “european “ israelis are goes with the ‘plurinational state where no one has to leave’ idea
@NateB_Panic
i don’t even think 7+ is uncommon for people in a major city, with kids, socializing etc i just think he’s the only one testing and admitting it
today i learned montessori education was created to train largely underprivileged italian children in autonomy/life skills they could use to resist fascism (!?)
@TheAgentNDN
fully jokerfied by hospitals not even acknowledging aerosol spread at this late date. also my uni says aerosols “may” exist so they’re doing 1 air change per day lol. this is like saying you’re endorsing germ theory by having drs wash their hands once per 48 hour shift
@laurenancona
neurotypicals be like “we’re the empathetic ones” and then also “in the subhuman disorder of autism… can they feel feelings? should they be allowed to have jobs?”
every year i have to reassess and give arendt a little bit more credit for combining the occasionally sharp psychological insights of a clinical narcissist with “just winging it” at a rate of 4 factual errors per sentence

@judysquirrels
it seems like a bad idea to make everyone else in your industry mad at you! and these are often small rising stars she’s undercutting

it’s so funny that bonnie henry even applied for and got other public health jobs after essentially single-handedly causing the world’s only second wave of sars1
“More recent evidence impugns Henry’s overly confident stance, as do internal emails published last year by online news outlet Capital Daily suggesting she was deliberately downplaying the risk.”

more chances is a bad idea, only one of you has unacceptable & harmful behaviour even if he is trying to make you feel guilty about anything else
@LegoRacers2
right like first of all it was probably ioannou not john, secondly that’s why those names spread and replaced aëthelbert as the most common boys name
@REDSEASHAWTY
this is real like chess players have to eat a lot of calories during tournaments to keep up… and mental exercises wear out dogs really fast too

universities might have to learn what trauma does to the brain (decrease focus at least temporarily , etc) instead of just throwing the phrase “trauma-informed” around
