iām genuinely starting to think these people have a radically different perception of human experience than me.
Not to be too much of an AI Doomer but I just had a FaceTime call with a near realtime ChatGPT-powered AI avatar and it wasā¦surprisingly human. Anyway, I recorded it. This is the actual response speed, itās very fast. (You can also hear me kind of lose it towards the end)

i don't think zuck has done anything more endearing and humanizing in his entire adult life than telling elon to stop fucking around and fight him in this text. that elon seems to think zuck looks like lame here just adds to zuck's integrity. incredible to see honestly.
I got this text message from Elon Musk at 4:44am CT showing a screenshot of some text messages in which he tells Mark Zuckerberg they should fight this Monday at Zuckerbergās home in Palo Alto.

really really evil stuff. very dark times ahead.
The philosopher Bernard-Henri LĆ©vy wrote on X, āI keep reading everywhere that Lebanon is 'on the brink of collapse.' No. It is on the brink of relief and deliverance.ā.Moments like this come once in a generation, if they even come at all. The Middle East is too often a solid.

hate this shit so much we need a real estate crisis so badly.
My friends bought 34 acres of Ohio wilderness. While hiking one day, they stumbled upon a dark, dripping cavernāand decided to pour their life savings into it. Today, it's one of the world's most profitable airbnbs. The waitlist is years long. Here's the story. š§µ

this is so funny man. china is too good at this itās not fair.
"China is now simply too large. ". Addressing a news conference in Beijing, US Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen decries Chinese "industrial overcapacity,ā reflecting anxiety that China is outpacing the US in the development of green technology.

why did this get so many likes. how is this relatable at all.
dating apps are hard because iām looking for someone intelligent (positively signaled by having gone to top university) but also not locked into a rigid and scientific materialist view of value and ambition (which top universities are designed to inculcate). what to do.

unironically i think about mr. beast a lot. he is paradigmatic of Content in a way that i find really fascinating. totally devoid of creativity, AI-like in its uncanny, derivative nature, and i mean self-consciously so, in that the only thing that matters to him is Engagement.
Yeah Iāll be honest the āMr. Beast does Squid Games at scale of $100 million productionā does make sense in this moment but itās just so profoundly evil I donāt even know what to say about it. Nothing anyone will ever say will make me think this dude isnāt the devil.

being a cop is a form of being a person.
@Erin_R_Hoffman Being a cop is a form of being a person, people hurt people, there isnāt a special way to be a person that guarantees you wonāt hurt someone else.

'natural limits' are going to impose themselves on us whether we want them to or not. the question is whether they will be consciously or unconsciously mediated. much of the 'ecomodernist' position is about refusing any responsibility in making that decision.
Today I wrote about one under-appreciated facet of climate change: fruit chaos. Think tiny, low-sugar peaches. I regret to inform you that stonefruit summer is on shaky ground.

these are the basics for politics.
@WhickTv these are the basics for politics, i'm pretty sure everybody knows these two. the first explains why governments are the way they are, the second, societies. and cgp grey has good short form videos explaining them both if you're lazy

genuinely find this mockery confusing. the tactic is occupation. committing as many social activities as possible into that occupation, including apparently apolitical ones, is meant to help it endure, else it gets boring and people leave. there is nothing frivolous about this.

major cope im afraid. real ones buy books they donāt read but also have no need to rationalize it.
Umberto Eco, who owned 50,000 books, had this to say about home libraries:. "It is foolish to think that you have to read all the books you buy, as it is foolish to criticize those who buy more books than they will ever be able to read. It would be like saying that you should use

white guy alone with his thoughts moment.
āLand backā is incoherent because āindigeneityā is one of the most pernicious social constructs out there. How one defines ethnic-based title to land is hopelessly arbitrary, and even when it isnāt, it provides little practical guidance to the resolution of contemporary conflict.

in all seriousness it is unconscionable to publish this in the midst of a bipartisan consensus to militarize the border and deport millions living in this country, and no 'patriotism is good as long as its pluralistic' is not a good response to this situation. get a fucking grip.
Communist and working-class parties of the past century were deeply rooted in the traditions, history, and culture of their respective countries. This left-wing national identity combined love of homeland with the need for friendship among all peoples.
