Tariffs not only impose immense economic costs but also fail to achieve their primary policy aims and foster political dysfunction along the way.

The entire Trump agenda is culture war bullshit to distract you from the fact that heβs giving giant tax cuts to billionaires funded by you and me
Trumpβs tax proposals are out. The one group to see tax decreases are the wealthiest 5%. Others will see tax increases between $610 and $1790. With food prices increasing due to tariffs and bird flu, the middle class will suffer most. Buckle up. It will be bad. @SteveRattner

@Will3316 New York is basically three economies. Cold rural, decaying rust belt and NYC. The first two are relatively cheap but nobody likes to live in places like that. Theyβre dying everywhere from Maine to Minnesota. NYC itself could be a growth engine but they wonβt build homes :(

@c_hunter_r Yeah, there are all kinds of tax benefits for living in the territories but nobody knows about that or cares. Maybe a special immigration program?

@c_hunter_r We NEVER talk about this issue but all of our territories are dying right now The Virgin Islands lost 18% of their population in the last census alone! π¬

@kwakara91 @nobodyknows2322 Even South Dakota is now below the replacement level Georgia has seen one of the fastest fertility declines in the eastern half of the U.S. The West and SW used to have higher birth rates (Mormons and Mexicans) That story is out of date today.

@nobodyknows2322 @JacquieTeo1 @AirwolfBonds It gets much worse from here on out! Look at the collapse in the number of total US births over the last 20 years We could see births fall below 3 million a year in the next decade or two. π¬

@c_hunter_r Orange County Florida went from about 7% foreign born to 21% foreign born from 1990 to 2020 Immigration is a massive driver of population growth in Florida ALL of Floridaβs population growth is coming from migration at this point with ~40% of that foreign born
