In just under two hours, electricity from coal in Northern Ireland will be consigned to the history books. Kilroot Power Station will desync from the grid for the last time.
That makes only Radcliffe Power Station is the only coal plant left in the UK.
One to go!
Car insurance renewal £889. Phoned up and they knocked £200 off immediately.
This practise has to end. They rely on the lazy and gullible to just accept high costs. It is a total scam.
Not really news but we are now a 2 EV household! My wife has a 40kw Zoe, which has replaced an ageing, leaking and *very* slow Clio. The Zoe makes short work of Sheffield hills!
Two EVs, no off street parking, no home charging, and no worries 👍
@nick_clegg
Hello from Sheffield Hallam, Nick.
Sorry to say but FB needs to die. The world will be better without it.
Either properly moderate content and charge a fee (and stop selling data) or just close it down. It has harmed society far, far too much.
Oh look.

If I am forced to eat the low quality, bacteria ridden meat and dairy from the US, I am going vegan.
No wonder they have 10x the food poisoning cases the EU does.

Way back when smoking was first banned on trains, I saw an American guy smoking a cigar. Numerous people asked him to stop, he told them to f off. One guy went to the vestibule, picked up a CO2 fire extinguisher and emptied it on the guy. Was hilarious. He wasn't happy 🥶🤣

Indeed. Also worth remembering that they have ONE factory. Not 100s like GM and Toyota.
We haven't got any M3 in Europe, China, Japan etc yet. Plenty of growth to come. I am going to buy a Model Y next..
THIS IS HOW EASY IT SHOULD BE! Charging at the new

Agree. Here in Spain you will hear Brits openly talking about how pleased they are that FoM is ending. Tell them that it also applies to them (and that they may need a visa to visit their holiday home) and they are horrified, quote "I didn't vote for that!". Oh yes you did! 😂

They're already light years ahead with trucks and buses. They can do the same for cars very easily. No IP theft needed. They're smart enough, but what they don't have is the brand - also, knock-off cars won't be able to supercharge as they won't exist on the Tesla database.
This is how you do charging for people without off street parking. One of many popping up all over Oxfordshire. Well done

That's another myth. Don't forget that refining oil to gasoline uses a phenomenal amount of electricity. 10 gallons of gas takes the same power to refine as a Tesla uses to drive around 250 miles. So stop refining and you have a glut of power available. No need to burn more coal.
My mum held true to her word that her next car would be electric, and now she has joined the

Here's the thing: China has ceased new coal power plant builds and installs a football pitch size of solar every 90 minutes. They have 360,000 fully electric buses. They are pushing clean tech better than anyone. India is following China's lead but is a poorer nation.

There were no issues until last month, apparently. Not only visitors are affected but also Gibraltarians. Spain decided to enforce its border. Remember we said that was impossible unless we left the EU? Turns out it wasn't after all.
So we have a bit of an upgrade. 2020 plate 50kW GT Line. Amazed at the difference in efficiency vs our 40kW Zoe. About 0.4m/kWh more efficient. With rapid charging this is much better for people like us who have no home charging. Really nice to drive!
Hard to think of anything more convenient than waking up to a fully fuelled car. We had nearly 8 years of no home charging, and having moved recently, this is never going to get boring!
Lidl car park in Wallingford. Ten cars with one person in, all with their engine running, presumably to keep their air con on whilst someone else is inside shopping.
This should be illegal.
@Tesla
When the Mercedes dealer looked at me and laughed, and wouldn't let me test drive a car.
Oh how I laughed when I did laps of their car park in my new Model S. All their customers came out for a look.
Three years on and Mercedes still haven't got anything comparable available.
Sorry to my followers for my Twitter rant tonight.
Can any of my older followers tell me: Was there so much concern when we moved from record players to CDs? We were all going to die from laser beams?!
I am genuinely shocked at the level of misunderstanding around EVs..
One benefit of the

is the massive leap in air quality. It's so clean up here in Sheffield today. You can actually smell passing cars exhausts 🤮 We *must* go electric after this is over. Clean air is so important.

I've just had to drive a (new) diesel car 60 miles. What a bag of nails. No power, struggles up hills, and you have to use the brakes all the time.
In an EV, you get so used to instant power, tons of torque and effortless easy driving.
Quite an eye opener.
@RoryStewartUK
In the 1990s I went to school in a well off, solid Tory part of South Oxfordshire.
We had leaking classrooms and our maths dept was in awful 1970s portakabins.
We shared text books between 3 students. Only once Blair got in (and I had left) did this get fixed.
Coincidence?
As my EV followers know, I cannot charge at home, nor even park outside most days.
Helpfully, a neighbour just down the street has gone EV and has off street parking - and has registered his home charge point on
@co_charger
. So now I can charge at his 😀

No majority for anything. Probably best thing to do is park it for now, convene a truth and reconcilation commission and get to the bottom of the lies and half-truths on both sides. That includes the media who are far from blameless in this whole saga.
Something is changing in the UK. Driving from Sheffield to Oxfordshire today, I counted 9 car transporters full solely of EVs. Next quarter sales figures will be very interesting.

Yes. You can safely run off grid without backfeeding in the event of a grid failure. So long as your powerwall has the latest software update.

Sorry Damon. F1 live only on pay to view TV will be the death of the sport. I grew up next to the Williams factory in Didcot, massive F1 fan for 28 years, rarely missed a race. But I am done. No more.

Another two EV chargers in Sheffield had cables cut last night. This is an epidemic now in the North. I am told a gang roams on false plates, dressed in black and are gone in 30 seconds 🤬🤬🤬
The industry needs to step up: armoured cables, unit alarms, remote monitoring etc.
@RHarrabin
I'm astounded the UN aren't making plans to relocate the billions that will be affected. We should be drawing up ways to move people to places less affected, work out how to feed, home & educate them. That's the reality of climate change - mass migration like never before.
Just been to Topps Tiles to buy some new flooring. Bloke wheels it out to my car and says, "You'll not be affected by the petrol station queues then! I queued for 90 mins this morning! Maybe I should look at an electric car..."

Let me answer 😀 Once finished in a car, batteries are still VERY valuable. They are used in static storage such as powering factories, homes and even football stadiums! Once completely spent (at least 10 more years) they can be totally recycled by
@UmicoreGroup
among others.
@exxonmobil
Looks like they use all the same tactics the oil and tobacco industries used to try and prevent regulation?
Now the chickens are coming home to roost and you don't like it?

I refuelled my wifes fossil car at Morrisons this morning. Queued for 8 mins, fuelled, queued while some old bloke forgot his PIN number, and then found I was covered in muck and petrol from the pump handle.
A sub-optimal experience.

I *loathe* scammers. They are beneath the lowest of the low.
Left Oxfordshire with 214 miles range, arrived Sheffield (157 miles door to door) with 51 left. Had air con on the whole way and was going....roughly the speed limit 😉 Who said EVs can't go long distances non stop!
Four of our BYD–Alexander Dennis Enviro200EV electric buses will be the first zero-emission buses in Sheffield. They'll convert the Sheffield Connect service, which links destinations around the heart of the city, to electric operation.

Absolutely. I screwed up at school, but with a lot of hard work, I later founded a company which grew to have around 40+ staff and a multi million pound turnover.
