In just under two hours, electricity from coal in Northern Ireland will be consigned to the history books. Kilroot Power Station will desync from the grid for the last time.
That makes only Radcliffe Power Station is the only coal plant left in the UK.

Not really news but we are now a 2 EV household! My wife has a 40kw Zoe, which has replaced an ageing, leaking and *very* slow Clio. The Zoe makes short work of Sheffield hills!
Two EVs, no off street parking, no home charging, and no worries 👍

Way back when smoking was first banned on trains, I saw an American guy smoking a cigar. Numerous people asked him to stop, he told them to f off. One guy went to the vestibule, picked up a CO2 fire extinguisher and emptied it on the guy. Was hilarious. He wasn't happy 🥶🤣

Agree. Here in Spain you will hear Brits openly talking about how pleased they are that FoM is ending. Tell them that it also applies to them (and that they may need a visa to visit their holiday home) and they are horrified, quote "I didn't vote for that!". Oh yes you did! 😂

They're already light years ahead with trucks and buses. They can do the same for cars very easily. No IP theft needed. They're smart enough, but what they don't have is the brand - also, knock-off cars won't be able to supercharge as they won't exist on the Tesla database.

Aldi uses a lot of the same suppliers as Tesco and others.
Aldi get a lot of their meat from the same supplier as M&S.

That's another myth. Don't forget that refining oil to gasoline uses a phenomenal amount of electricity. 10 gallons of gas takes the same power to refine as a Tesla uses to drive around 250 miles. So stop refining and you have a glut of power available. No need to burn more coal.

Here's the thing: China has ceased new coal power plant builds and installs a football pitch size of solar every 90 minutes. They have 360,000 fully electric buses. They are pushing clean tech better than anyone. India is following China's lead but is a poorer nation.

So we have a bit of an upgrade. 2020 plate 50kW GT Line. Amazed at the difference in efficiency vs our 40kW Zoe. About 0.4m/kWh more efficient. With rapid charging this is much better for people like us who have no home charging. Really nice to drive!

Oh how I laughed when I did laps of their car park in my new Model S. All their customers came out for a look.

I've just had to drive a (new) diesel car 60 miles. What a bag of nails. No power, struggles up hills, and you have to use the brakes all the time.
In an EV, you get so used to instant power, tons of torque and effortless easy driving.
Quite an eye opener.

We had leaking classrooms and our maths dept was in awful 1970s portakabins.
We shared text books between 3 students. Only once Blair got in (and I had left) did this get fixed.

As my EV followers know, I cannot charge at home, nor even park outside most days.
Helpfully, a neighbour just down the street has gone EV and has off street parking - and has registered his home charge point on

Hi from the UK. We have some of the best hospitals, doctors, cancer care, local healthcare etc in the world. Sure our system isnt perfect, but I would rather have the NHS than the American system. Healthcare from cradle to grave. Paid for by all, always available to all.

Another two EV chargers in Sheffield had cables cut last night. This is an epidemic now in the North. I am told a gang roams on false plates, dressed in black and are gone in 30 seconds 🤬🤬🤬
The industry needs to step up: armoured cables, unit alarms, remote monitoring etc.

Let me answer 😀 Once finished in a car, batteries are still VERY valuable. They are used in static storage such as powering factories, homes and even football stadiums! Once completely spent (at least 10 more years) they can be totally recycled by

I refuelled my wifes fossil car at Morrisons this morning. Queued for 8 mins, fuelled, queued while some old bloke forgot his PIN number, and then found I was covered in muck and petrol from the pump handle.

I am literally about to get in my car and drive non stop from Sheffield to Oxford. When I get home, I will plug in and wake up at 7.30am to a fully charged car. It is as easy as pie.

You can't tell them. The fact that TV transmitters kick out 500 Kw and there are thousands of devices emitting RF around us eludes them.
