I went into anaphylactic shock and took a Benadryl. Really, did you now? If your reaction truly progressed to fluid leaking from you blood vessels, I doubt swallowing Benadryl saved you.

While on dock watch I saw a kid fall off a sailboat while trying to don her life vest. Cleared the swimmers, dove in, found her on the third try, hauled her in and did old school compressions and breaths until an EMT tapped me out. She was 7. I was fifteen. She has grandkids :)

I still get the feels and the tears after eleven years but they’re few and far between now. Let your heart feel what it feels. The new “normal” happens at a different pace for everyone who loses a furry family member.

Hats off to you, Dr. Nguyen. I heard this story many times from the “old guy” I was in private practice with at the start of my NP career. I had forgotten the antibiotic to which he was referring in those tales.
