I’m officially 5-years NED after #ProstateCancer treatment! After many scares of cancer recurrence, I’m thrilled to say follow-up scans indicate I’m still in the clear! In celebration, I enjoyed a spring snowstorm, wrote a blog and made a YouTube video!

I wish time healed all wounds. Cancer takes away body parts that will never return, causes side effects that may never improve and mental health issues that haunt us. And for some, time runs out before healing begins. I miss my sister. 💔 Cancer sucks on all levels. @ThanksCancer

Life after a cancer diagnosis is so stressful when it comes to new aches and pains. I'm thrilled my breast lump was an infection, and my groin lump was a hernia. But for several weeks, my lower rib has been painful. I have a bone scan tomorrow and hope it's anything but cancer.

I’m officially 4-years NED after #ProstateCancer treatment! Without testing, I wouldn’t have known my PSA was rising. I was healthy, fit, with no family history or symptoms. And yet, cancer was already in the final stage before escaping the prostate. I’m grateful for PSA testing.

@ThanksCancer @katievscancer The problem with the phrase, "beat cancer," is it implies that you are back to normal. Even if we are NED, cancer leaves us with permanent physical and mental health issues that impact the quality of our life.

Today, I was at the lab for a follow-up PSA test, and the results are in — undetectable! I’m now 39-months NED after #ProstateCancer treatment. Men, please don’t wait for symptoms to get tested. Ask your doctor to include the PSA and DRE as part of your annual checkups.

I had a follow-up PSA blood test today due to recently becoming unstable since #ProstateCancer surgery. Unfortunately, the results are higher. Still not high enough to indicate recurrence. My doctor says not to worry at this point, but it’s disturbing. @ThanksCancer #CancerSucks

I had two doctor appointments today, one with my urologist and one with a surgeon. And I have fantastic news! They both agree the lump in my groin is a hernia. Well, maybe not fantastic news, but it's fixable and has nothing to do with cancer. I'm now waiting for a surgery date.

The lump in my groin has grown and is painful. I visited the hospital this morning, and the ER doctor believes it's a hernia even though a previous ultrasound ruled it out. She referred me to a surgeon. Not exactly a good start to my birthday, but I'm still going to eat cake.

@iantheCROAT @ThanksCancer The two biggest misconceptions that some people have about my cancer diagnosis are that it was my fault, and now that treatment is over, I must be back to my old self. The truth is I lived a very healthy lifestyle before my diagnosis, and my old self is now permanently damaged.

Great news! The ultrasound on my testicles revealed multiple epididymal cysts, which are benign, non-cancerous lumps! Since the pain is minimal, my doctor recommends monitoring. And my latest chest x-ray is clear, so she prescribed anti-inflammatories to bring down the swelling.

The results of my chest x-ray identified an ill-defined airspace opacity. I'm not sure what that means, but it doesn't sound like cancer. Also, I had an ultrasound on my testicles and was pleasantly surprised that it didn't hurt. I'm now waiting for the results and next steps.

@ThanksCancer When I was diagnosed with cancer, it was surreal and I thought maybe the doctor had the wrong guy. It didn't even seem real during further scans, bloodwork and even while being prepared for surgery. But when I woke up in recovery, it hit me as being all too real. #cancersucks

People with prostates should have a read. I had no symptoms even though cancer was already in the final stage before breaching my prostate. I'm grateful for PSA testing and MRI scans. Had I waited for symptoms my diagnosis would have been terminal. #ProstateCancer

@ThanksCancer I never used to swear, but after my cancer diagnosis, it's become part of my coping mechanism. Somehow it makes me feel a bit better about things. Perhaps it's a much-needed emotional release that's good for the soul. #cancersucks

@ThanksCancer Just hearing the word, cancer, was enough for my mind to shutdown. The doctor kept talking, but I couldn't focus and immediately thought the worst. He handed me a big stack of reading material, but it was too overwhelming. What I needed at the time was emotional support.

@TerriConneran @ThanksCancer @curetoday Great article on cancer ghosting, Terri. I never heard the term before my cancer diagnosis. Afterwards, a few of my good friends now avoid me. It hurt at first, but I now realize they were not good friends afterall. But I have met many wonder new friends since my diagnosis.

@katievscancer @ThanksCancer I'm almost six years NED after prostate cancer treatment. I had no symptoms even though cancer was in the final stage before spreading. Had I waited for signs, my diagnosis would have been terminal. Anyone with a prostate should consider talking to a doctor about annual exams.

Today, we made a painful decision to put down our dog, Nelly. She and her sister, Maya, were faithful companions and gave great comfort, especially during my #ProstateCancer diagnosis and treatment. Sadly, they are now gone. I'm heartbroken but grateful for the memories. #dogs

Know your risk of #ProstateCancer , and early detection offers the most options, including active surveillance. My cancer was in the final stage before spreading, and yet I had no symptoms. Ask your doctor to include the DRE and PSA as part of your annual checkup. #MensHealthWeek

Yesterday, my daughter, Jenn, married the love of her life on the Island of Alert Bay. My family had the privilege to attend a very memorable ceremony. The church was overflowing with love from two families that now join as one. I will cherish the memories of this day forever.

My great-aunt Thérèse passed away at the age of 105. She was born in Montreal, Quebec, in 1916, two years before the Spanish flu pandemic. At the age of 32, she became a preacher and started several rescue missions across Canada, the US, Germany and India. I will miss her deeply.

@ThanksCancer Before my cancer diagnosis, I knew nothing about the prostate and treatments. It's been 5-years since my diagnosis, and I'm exhausted learning so much about it. It's like being forced to go to school when you would rather play outside.

Please don't wait for symptoms or the end of the virus to see your doctor about PSA testing. Many men in stage-4 were not even aware of PSA testing until after their terminal #ProstateCancer diagnosis. I had no symptoms, but yet my cancer was in the final stage before spreading.

@ThanksCancer My little furry friend helps reduce my anxiety when it's time for follow-up scans and bloodwork. He has a way of melting my heart and brightening my day. And he helps me forget my bloodwork is moving in the wrong direction and keeps me focused on enjoying the moment. #cancersucks

@EM_RESUS @Aladinsane40 I’ve used the Heimlich on my brother. He was chocking on a shrimp and ran into the washroom. I followed and he grabbed my arms, wrapped them around his waist and motioned for me to thrust. I'm so glad I followed him and his directions. After a few thrusts, the shrimp flew out.

Anyone with a prostate is at risk of developing #ProstateCancer . I was healthy, fit, with no family history or symptoms. Without regular testing, I wouldn't have known my PSA was rising. The cancer was in the final stage before breaching the prostate and I had no idea. #GetTested

After comparing mortality rates between men who had undergone screening and those who hadn't, the researchers concluded the PSA test, when administered to men who fit for screening, reduced prostate cancer deaths by 25 to 32 percent over 11 years.

@ThanksCancer Not only does each cancer diagnosis come with a free side of anxiety. But the anxiety is endless and never ends. It's like the "all you can eat buffet," but you're forced to keep on eating well after you're beyond full.

The results of my chest x-ray identified an ill-defined airspace opacity. I'm not sure what that means, but it doesn't sound like cancer. Also, I had an ultrasound on my testicles and was pleasantly surprised that it didn't hurt. I'm now waiting for the results and next steps.

The results of my bone scan are normal, but the pain in my rib continues. I see the doctor next week to review and to check out my right testicle as it recently changed shape. I'm stressed out thinking about cancer. Before my cancer diagnosis, I never used to worry so much.

I'm grateful my GP recommended PSA testing even though I had no symptoms. Without testing, I wouldn't have known my PSA was rising. An MRI targeted biopsy confirmed cancer in the final stage before escaping the prostate. Testing saved me from a terminal diagnosis. #ProstateCancer

Did you know men across Surrey and Sussex are being diagnosed at a much later stage of prostate cancer compared with national figures? If you have put off asking your GP for a PSA test, make the phone call today. Late-stage diagnosis reduces chances of survival.

My hernia surgery is tomorrow! That's two out of three health issues resolved. The lump in my breast was an infection, and the lump in my groin is a hernia. That leaves me to monitor my slowly rising PSA. The levels are still extremely low, but a bit unsettling to see increases.

I had two doctor appointments today, one with my urologist and one with a surgeon. And I have fantastic news! They both agree the lump in my groin is a hernia. Well, maybe not fantastic news, but it's fixable and has nothing to do with cancer. I'm now waiting for a surgery date.

My cancer was in the final stage before breaching the prostate and I had no symptoms. The tumour was out reach of the DRE. A blind biopsy was negative. I'm thankful for the PSA test. Without it, I wouldn't have had an MRI targeted biopsy and my cancer was free to grow undetected.

I'm grateful for the nurses who cared for me over the years. I've had three major surgeries and in and out of the hospital many times in my life. My longest stay was 2-months. And the care and support I received from the nurses was beyond exceptional. The world needs more nurses.
