75 years ago today, my great-uncle Maurice Knight drowned in the Rhine. Sadly his body was never recovered. You are still remembered. Thanks for your help earlier this year

My great uncle Bill. Was part of the crew who took US Rangers across to the Normandy coast
Sadly he was killed in the August, after the Amsterdam had been converted to a hospital ship and then struck a mine off the Normany coast

You can argue about if the British and Americans got too much or too little credit in both wars, but I think we can agree that Canada, Australia and the Poles, as well as many other countries, definitely did not get enough

A little thread on a little black book... I've been sorting through old family paperwork. I found this book, a diary, from 1885. Some pages missing & the only writing was on the 2nd April 1885 when a relative got 4 eggs & 2 cream tarts...

Popped into Woodbridge yesterday so my wife could get new contact lenses. Spent £5 on 2 books in a charity shop & saw some British classics!

My great uncle Maurice died on this day 79 years ago. Last seen trying to cross the Rhine & sadly presumed drowned, his body never found. But he is not forgotten

I love those old metal windows, such a classic simple design. Also get annoyed when Grand Designs have a couple who knock down a perfectly good house & then use immense amounts of concrete to build a house that is x5 times bigger than they need!
