Today I’ve been working with WWII Bomber Command documents. These maps belonged to a Lancaster bomber navigator (whose family kindly lent me his things). It’s been interesting matching each map with the relevant sortie report. Quite eerie, in a way.
Ray Parke (from the crew of “The Eighth Passenger” by Miles Tripp) recently visited the Lancaster at Duxford. It was his first time back in a Lancaster in 78 years. He was interviewed for the

Last night was the anniversary of the Nuremberg Raid when 96 aircraft were shot down and over 500 aircrew were killed. LAC Leonard Jowett also died serving with 207 Squadron at RAF Spilsby.

Dudley Snooke died 27/28 September 1940. The crew were unable to locate RAF Scampton and their Hampden crashed on to St. Matthias Church in Lincoln.
