We allowed the Big 2 Taxi firms to effectively block Uber from operating in the city like it does in other cities, we cut public transport spending and we are increasing private taxi fares. It's the perfect storm for the Hospitality Industry.
There is a competency deficit
There's to be a substantial rise in taxi fares from next month with some fares going up almost 20%. There's been a shortage of drivers in the wake of the Covid pandemic leaving passengers struggling to get home. Taxi companies say they need to attract more drivers.

The Coleraine Ring Road is essentially a bypass for cars. Why would cyclists use it? Do bikes regularly get stuck in town centre traffic? Are there many people commuting between Ballymoney and Portrush by bike?

I can think of several small, vacant units in Belfast, ideal for a tiny bar but sadly Northern Ireland's Liquor Licensing Law discourages entrepreneurship.

Translink caught ripping customers off on Enterprise ticket prices.
I have said before and I will say it again - TRANSLINK do not provide adequate services to the Northern Irish public with higher prices than the exemplary systems in mainland Europe.
