A few years ago, there was a major project to relocate the residents to other areas where condominiums had been built for them. They went there, rented those condos out to Yuppies and returned to the slums.

I grew up on a farm with basically millions of cabbage and tomato. We'd often just boil a cabbage in a tin, throw in some tomato and consume it to avoid going out of the farm for lunch.
It keeps you full but you've got to have a heavy breakfast and dinner.
