When you're not wealthy as a child but surrounded by well off people your socioeconomic insecurities cannot allow you to have kids when older before you match up your lifestyle to theirs.
I was thrust into a society of upper class kids when I was young and the difference in standard of living and even thinking is so alarmingly different. Many of these guys were assured of their fortunes only getting better and those manifestations have largely come to pass.

My little observation when political & business leaders take positions on contentious issues is that they are usually right for where they are standing; and they have so much better information than the NPCs when their 'moral positions' are the opposite of those of the NPCs'.
