In Kigali 🇷🇼 every month Rwandans have a car free day, which encourages people to do physical exercises in order to stay healthy.

Regardless of your political system quality of governance depends on the set of incentives/disincentivizes that policymakers/rulers face. Unlike EastAsians we don't have the sociocultural mechanisms to incentivize good governance from autocrats so we're better off with elections
I don't believe Zambia should be a Democracy. We don't have the tools to sustain a meaningful one yet. In fact, it holds us back significantly.
Kenneth Kaunda wasn't a perfect leader, but he was right in dispensing with multiparty democracy in 1972.

There have been several dozen autocratic regimes on the continent and I can think of only two that delivered serious economic gains namely Vorster in South Africa & Zenawi in Ethiopia. Democrats like Kibaki, Mbeki, Mogae, Jonathan, Kufour have a much better track record
Post Nigerian election I'm even more convinced that African countries will never economically reach their potential under democracy.
African elections mostly encourage ethnic balkanization, completely illegal electoral practices, and often lead to the worst candidates winning.
