2 likely drivers:
i.) Foreign inflows of capital into say, Kenyan infrastructure bonds. Foreign speculators probs think KES is oversold and are willing 2 take the risk.
ii.) CBK intervention to defend the shilling as they think it's gone below fair value.
Thugge mentioned both.

“The terrorists are just freedom fighters that want nothing more than Freedom from the oppressive empire. Nothing more! No dogmatic religious reasons or anything haha, that would be crazy.”
Kenya has a really great chance to take advantage of our funny currency devaluation situation. Exports are now cheap to foreigners , hence If we were to ramp up production of export goods big-time , we'd most definitely come out of this on top and increase our Dollar reserves.
Nairobi folks be calling themselves wine connoisseurs while they're drinking the shittiest, lowest quality wine that the very dregs of American and European society couldn't be forced to drink at gunpoint LMAO.
So long as y'all are happy tho.

Look up a guy called David Munyakei and ask yourself if you'd ask your (hypothetical) son to meet such a fate himself for the sake of thankless Kenyans that don't even remember his name.

It's kinda inaccurate as back then the strain on the roads they built was nothing by comparison. If we were just using walking , carriages and horses instead of these automobiles , our roads would last pretty long too...
I try my best to not associate myself with people that think this is the reason why Gaddafi was killed.
It's crackpot Pan-African conspiracy nonsense LOL.
Taylor Swift was in talks to sign a $100m sponsorship deal with FTX.
But then actually asked “can you tell me that these are not unregistered securities?” and the deal fell through.
Hahaha, from the little I've heard thus far, I see Nairobi girlies being shown dust by some of these guys once they get their finances in excellent shape.

36 yr old Chinese dude from rural Henan who never had a girlfriend asked his cousin working in Zambia to help him find a wife. His cousin introduced him to a Zambian girl. He got married aft 20 days. Cousin going back to China to help prepare his home for arrival of the bride

The world we live in is optimized for psychopaths and nasty people to succeed. They're the ones willing to exploit people and systems to succeed without a shred of remorse.
Karma is bullshit, in short.
Yaani, the recent auction of 10 yr bonds essentially is telling you if your business is making less than roughly 18% in profits, you may as well take your business, sell all assets, pay off liabilities & go home.
Coz you're underperforming the risk free rate. Ur doing 0 work.
Old man used to be invested in stocks, had this stock broker he used up to the late 90s/early 2000s. But one day he was called up by the owner and he told him to get out before things went ugly.
Of course he withdrew everything...

Zoos are saying they own Kenya coz they got a number of top positions in government, especially in our intelligence, & security apparatus.
And government doesn't think this is somehow a national security threat. I can't believe I'm saying this but we need a Kyuks resurgence...

We don't have much choice. No sober investment bank or foreign government would lend to us in shillings cause of currency risk. We could devalue the shilling at an alarming rate to pay off our debt & erode the value of their debt.
But If it's in dollars then the risk is minimal

I don't even think we have the capacities for that kinda thing. Let alone the will.

Banks don't tend to invest in startups even abroad. Maybe investment banks like softbank as exceptions.
That's the work of V.C funds typically.
Would you like your deposits being invested in high risk ventures with little to no collateral fronted upfront?
Think about it...

This works both during bubbles & vicious bear markets.

If the shilling is constantly losing value against the dollar then you need more and more shillings to pay the same dollar denominated debt. If you got lent dollars when the rate was 100 & now it's 115 , you need 15 more ksh for every dollar to keep making the interest payments

Why? Cuz they're so formal and fearful. They hardly ever have a single controversial take. Strikes me as unnatural. Just open an anonymous account & let the invasive thoughts win, man.

I have a big issue with the way many Kenyans define ‘progress’. To them it's new, shiny malls & shopping centres that sell 99% imported goods, or have these international fast food brands.
It's not factories coming up in Athi river or Thika, for them. Consumption mentality.
The Ndindi Nyoro effect. Retail, institutions or a combination of both are buying up KPLC shares like madd!!😂😂
Even the volume today is surpassing Safcom's which is madd!! Very anomalous indeed.
