I'm an American who has lived in Kenia for the past 3 years, and it's the best decision I've made in my life. The weather is beautiful all through the year, the people are kind, surprisingly speak good English, but the food is a bit spicy.
If you hike, Think Twice Second Hand shop is definitely the best place to buy all reasonably priced clothe related gear. If you are lucky, shoes and bags as well.

, you 'donated' pads to KNH in Feb 2024. You are holding 6 different brands of pads. From the ones you are holding, only 3 were manufactured in kenya.
The rest:
The fact of the matter is that there are NO TAXES on locally manufactured sanitary towels and diapers. To deal with Period Poverty, we MUST deal with Poverty so WE MUST DEMAND THAT WE KEEP OUR JOBS IN KENYA. (1)

I joined a local group of Maasai women making beads on my first trip there. The beautiful women agreed that I'd be named 'cheboi' a local name than means "the light skinned one"
I have since legally changed my name to Cheboi.

I once went to This steakhouse called Carnivore, that served us an assortment of meats + including ostrich, crocodile. Endless barbecue that came with a side of a salsa like salad.
Our lovely waiter Sally said the locals call it Kachewmberi. I'd go back but I'm vegan now
@TimGathima
Thank you for your kind words Tim! The fact that most locals people speak my language has helped alot! I'm even on duo lingo learning Swahili!
😂 You must admit, I have slowed down on my constant reference of home. I mean, back at home, in north Dakota, it isn't an issue.
That Shiku Mungai Wanjiku is a very toxic HR in a certain pharmaceutical company in Westlands. Last year she slapped an intern because she had forgotten to carry a pen in a meeting. Fear her!!!
Her dressing code disqualified her. She was half naked, everything was out. I tried to convince him but he was firm with his decision. So I called my bestie explained to her. May this information be helpful Lesson learned
While it is unrealistic to expect all households to become fully self-sufficient, it is possible to meet families’ needs for specific food groups, e.g; vegetables.
I wrote on the lessons
#Covid19
has taught us, regarding food self sufficiency.
Every cool person who went to highschool around the Eldoret area must have hanged out here on opening and closing days! I wonder mlikuwa mnafanya nini Huko?
In my short stay, I have studied the dietary choices of the locals, and how this came to be. I have published multiple papers on the same. Here's one you should read.
Indigenous vegetables, from the lens of an American woman in Kenia
Tip: go when they are getting 'new' stock every 3 weeks, since, you have better options. The cap is waterproof and windproof. And was KES 150. Bag has multiple pockets, and is very light an was I think 600 KES. I saw a hydration bag (3l) and it was 400. All in perfect condition.
"In my previous experience at Kisii Agriculture Training Centre, I worked on birds to diagnose avian diseases. This experience has allowed me to relate to things that can fly, along with their mechanical problems. This may or may not include aeroplanes."
What is the role of national and household food self sufficiency in food security?
Especially amidst a global pandemic that has disrupted global food markets?

Heres's what I think:

has exposed our food systems' vulnerability to shocks. This is evident in massive post harvest losses, hunger and markets' instability.
How can we improve our resilience?
Here's what I wrote on that:

I don't know if you have seen, but Kenyans are saying that but you don't have a career in politics babes. Start making a plan on reviving your Facebook data centre career in Denmark or wherever else you please, even here.
Men are supposed to provide and protect while women are supposed to nurture. What greater job is there than taking care of your children enabling them to grow up to be better people in the community?
Don't get me wrong, I’ve no problem with women accessing opportunities as men.
Food and nutrition habits of Kenyans, and Africans at large, have transitioned from a reliance on traditional food species and preparation techniques, to more exotic food preferences, causing an over-reliance on a few staple crops such as maize and rice.
This one has weighed 10.2kgs!
I did plant 2.5 months ago and we are already eating. We have over 100 of them ranging from 5 to 10kgs.

Your babies are mature. 🤗
Women, shop for rainproof pants in the men's section, as such pants are stereotyped/accidentally placed in the men's section, even when it is for women. Most are unisex, but I always fit for a high waisted feel, and check that the internal waterproof material isn't chipping off.

Unawatch 10 minutes of Kipchoge's documentary, and for a moment you feel so proud to be a Kenyan, halafu unakumbuka ruto na rigathi are the people leading this country. Then you're back to the hate.
Read labels and brand names of jackets. Know what material makes it waterproof/windproof/breathable/quick dry. The more pockets the better. I like pockets on the wrist, chest and inside the jacket. I like zips on the underarms, and a specific phone location, free from water.
"Wholesale consumers: schools, hotels and other institutions, have either cut down on their orders, or completely eliminated consumption."

Some jackets are fleeced for better insulation. But have poor performance to rain and wind. I wore this jacket to satima, and it was just too cold and windy. Next time, I'd wear with an extra layer of a thermal top, like I did in kinangop, which worked perfectly.
If it has mountain icon, I would lean towards it. See the breathable seam material? I've been rained on in this jacket, & it dries so fast. I compared it with someone who has worn a regular jacket, and she was so cold, and actually wet. This jacket dries up almost immediately.
