"By giving a personal interpretation to the texts of the magisterium, you would paradoxically give an example of this liberalism which you fight so strongly, and would act contrarily to the goal you pursue."
-- Cardinal Ratzinger to Archbishop Lefebvre 1987
“The devil and the Freemasons have succeeded in penetrating the Church to the highest level ... she has been infiltrated by men who do not belong to the Church. They have invaded the Church and occupied the highest offices but they do not constitute the Church."
- Abp. Lefebvre
There will continue to be problems in the Latin church so long as nominally Latin Catholics view the old missal or Eastern Churches as an escape route from whatever problems they view as present in the Latin church. Not meaning to denigrate the east, just stating a fact.
It was wonderful to witness a Byzantine Divine Liturgy in Cincinnati yesterday, and even better to find out that it will be celebrated regularly going forward (likely twice/month). Praise God!

That doesn't follow from the quote because he also believed the apostles delivered unwritten tradition which must also be reverenced.
". . . it was no object with them to be writers of books: in fact, there are many things which they have delivered by unwritten tradition."

There is nothing stopping you from living like a peasant from the 19th century without running water, electricity, AC, Internet, do I need to continue?

Tolkien was so trad, he would give the responses in the new mass "very loudly in Latin while the rest of the congregation answered in English."
Vatican 2 through participation of over 2000 bishops and subsequent ratification by over 90% of those bishops is by definition the most ecumenical council ever in the history of the Church.
Thank God for Vatican 2. With it the Holy Spirit guided the Church to provide a framework for engagement with the imminent modern technological world.
It is because of Vatican 2 we are able to speak relevantly to the culture. It provides a framework and launching point for

In the 300s before Nicaea the East was overwhelmed by Arianism, and the Bishop of Alexander St. Athanasius stood alone against the heresy.
Just because priests and even bishops teach heresy does not invalidate the authority of the Catholic Church.
Jesus doesn’t have any authority to interpret The Bible. Authority was given to the elders and chief priests and subsequently passed down to the rabbis in an unbroken line. Jesus tried to pull himself out from being under the Authority of the Jewish Magisterium and Sacred

It literally only requires a validly ordained priest, bread and wine, the words of institution, and intending to consecrate the Eucharist.

Why shouldn't there be some places that are "male defined with no room for women," or why can't the women just adapt? I understand if there's excessive profanity or pornography, that's a different issue.
@FitterTank
No where has "Rome" universally disallowed the "TLM," and this is one parish out of thousands or millions while the official stance of the Church has been and remains SSA and other related "queer" activities are grave sin.

One of the funniest things about the Jewish rejection of the Deuterocanon is how they reject Maccabees that's the origin of one of their own holidays, Hanukkah.
As many of you have become aware, last week a display was erected at the Iowa Capitol by the Satanic Temple of Iowa. As I have responded to concerns from Iowans about the display, I wanted to share with you how the display came to be and my response.
How did it happen?

The atom bombs were evil, the entire war was evil, but they were objectively less evil than the firebombings which had been happening already
@Toomertastic
The dumbest thing about the schism, if you look at it objectively: for 700 years the east was falling into whatever the newest heresy was and begging for Rome's help, but we're supposed to believe Rome just fell into papism and filioquism out of no where.
@JadeAtrophis
I think it's funny when atheists try to claim Jesus never existed like it's some high intellectual claim, but it's actually ultra-fringe.

The fact that Mike Gendron was allegedly a Catholic for 30 years and is still so utterly misinformed is proof enough that Catholic catechesis is horrible.
