This is sooo true. When I feel myself getting tempted towards Rome it’s NEVER because of a specific verse in the bible but because of its aesthetic and a feeling of belonging.
Especially among the converts, what motivates these papists is an entirely effeminate insecurity. It isn’t God’s word that moves them (an optional ad hoc tool to them) but simply the emotional desire of belonging in something “aesthetic” and “old” that they can post selfies of

I was only baptized because my non-religious great-grandfather organised it.
Even tho my mother was an active church member in her youth and my father was baptized and confirmed into the Roman Catholic Church, neither of them were interested in having me baptized.

Today, during divine service I had a really “crazy” experience:
During the Lord’s Prayer the church bell started ringing and I felt how the whole church began to tremble.
I immediately felt goosebumps all over my body but with 100x the usual intensity.

My answer to this question would be that the average person (mis-)understands the RC view of salvation as works based.
Them realising they aren’t good enough to go to heaven gives them a “I’ll go to hell anyway”-mindset what slowly draws you away from Christ.
