Princeton ‘22. Medieval History PhD student. Maronite Anglo-Catholic in a lifelong pilgrimage to the New Jerusalem. Ora & labora! All opinions strictly in jest.
Before Constantine converted, the Romans mocked Christianity as a faith of weakness, a religion “of women and slaves.” It should still be, and that’s a good thing.
What can I give Him, poor as I am?
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
If I were a shepherd, I would bring a lamb;
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
If I were a Wise Man, I would do my part;
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Yet what I can I give Him: give my heart.
😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
I will never listen to another word from Pope Francis ever again. I would advise all Catholics to do the same. Just listen to your local bishop. And if your local bishop happens to be a heretic, then find a good bishop and listen to him.
Mass should still be said at the Sainte-Chapelle, even if only a few times every year. The fact that there is no altar no worship in that space is disgraceful.

Went yesterday to Westminster Abbey (
@wabbey
) for what I thought would be a nice afternoon of pilgrimage, prayer, & sightseeing but what we found instead was anything but. The abbey, which advertises itself to be a working church, made it extremely difficult for us to worship…
Even though I'm not Muslim, I know the difference between orthodox Islam (Sunni/Shia) and heretical Islam (Sufi mysticism). Therefore it's not a "no true Scotsman" fallacy if I gatekeep Christianity to the Nicene traditions
clarification: im not validating the lgbt sexualization claim. Just pointing out that this example does Not Work That way and furthermore it should not be how we approach this accusation lol
Told two of my colleagues today i couldn’t go get drinks bc the Patriarch of Jerusalem had declared a day of fasting and prayer and honestly top 10 medieval things ive said
His legend is false, and like many similar blood libel accusations from the Middle Ages, it was never supported by the Papacy. Furthermore, whatever leeway was given to his cult was suppressed.
“For Medieval craftsmen, work was an act of piety, sanctified in their own eyes as in the eyes of their God. For such labourers, end and means are one. The spiritual wholeness of faith is translated into the visual wholeness and purity of their craft.”
— Sir Roger Scruton

Ok but can we talk about how the King’s morning suit was the best I’ve ever seen in my life? He was the best dressed man in the room by far, and it was all him, not because he was given some special garb. The cut, the piping, the slips, the vest, the tie pin… wow
Everyone who maintains that Christianity is a “warrior religion” and cites the Crusades and an example of this should do well to remember that the Crusaders lost.
Christ with me,
Christ before me,
Christ behind me,
Christ within me,
Christ beneath me,
Christ above me,
Christ on my right,
Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down,
Christ when I sit down,
Christ when I arise…
Despite all the bad, the few minutes kneeling before the shrine of St Edward the Confessor were some of the most peaceful and prayerful of my life. Truly God’s peace is capable of calming even the most wicked storm.
