@eshear When working with with people, ranging from profoundly gifted to those with learning challenges, I find that many have trouble breaking big projects into small pieces. So we talk about or visually map out steps. In my experience profoundly gifted people, are big picture thinkers

@DKThomp From Christopher Alexander, architect, “when you build a thing you cannot merely build that thing in isolation, but must also repair the world around it, and within it, so that the larger world at that one place becomes more coherent, and more whole”True about building anything

@kmele Political appointments have never been based on merit. A mayor who wanted to strengthen his popularity with the Irish would appoint an Irishman. A governor eager to take in more $ from oil companies would select an oil exec. For over a century woman & blacks were not considered

@LieslMcconchie Imagine how much we, parents, educators & citizens , could improve the lives of teachers & learners if we consistently used the process you describe to address a wide range of concerns.

@Wade_Burleson Your history is wrong. Burr defeated Schuyler in 1791. The 1804 duel was prompted by Hamilton’s comments on the 04 NY gubernatorial race between Burr & Morgan Lewis. Duels were not considered honorable then & Burr’s reputation was destroyed. Fist fights are not honorable now.

@ArmandDoma The city makes it too easy for neighbors to repeatedly oppose construction. The BOS blames greedy landlords & builders instead of a supply deficit. The “I’ve got mine, to hell with you” attitude hides behind the more palatable, “We are preserving character.”

@cafedujord I met a lot of Peskin supporters this weekend. Here’s how it went: They proclaim, “We must preserve history.” I say the housing shortage requires us to accept change. They say, “There is no housing shortage”. I mention the mandate & they say, “No one takes that seriously.”

@michelletandler I think your question is important but these questions are equally important. “ When does the life of the fetus become more important than the life of the mother? When does a woman lose the right to decide what happens to her body?”

@frank_smith1111 The mission/vision are boilerplate. You will find similar statements in public & private schools. FWIW my guess is that this was crafted by the school council, a group of parents & teachers who have a wide variety of opinions about what this means in both intent & practice. The

@ecowriterohio I am so sorry your beautiful son is gone from this earth. His story is inspirational and I am grateful you shared it. I have it feeling it will inspire parents, children and educators for many years. His impact will continue.

Around 1893, Edouard Vuillard began to develop a style that removed him from his fellow Nabis, minutely scrutinising the scenes that he saw around him, revealing an abstract-like beauty in everyday life. In this work of a woman sewing, he has paid particular attention to the

What children need is grownups who are able to *be present* with their own fears and anxieties so they don’t project them onto their children and so that children learn how to do the same. Sometimes all is not well. I was 11 years old when hurricane Katrina hit. All was not

@josephjconnor Agree that effective AI tutors will accelerate the growth of micro schools. AI tutors will increase the breadth & depth of course offerings without increasing staff, especially for learners 12 & up. Childcare & community building are critical functions of schools that can be
