I want everybody to know that I will spend my dotage reminding generations yet unborn what horrible monsters Jared and @IvankaTrump are.

The first story I ever wrote—for City Pages— was prompted by a list at my college, which led to a story of four women who'd been raped by fellow students. Time picked up the story, put on cover. Others followed. Issue became huge. It was 1990-91— the #metoo of the time.

The insane thing is that on a domestic front the record was good! Better recovery from Covid inflation than any other rich country. Huge investments in infrastructure and tech and jobs and decarbonization.
The overall story, so far: Nothing here looks like a story of various campaign decisions or a VP choice or big set piece speeches. It's an electorate mad at the incumbent WH's record and expressing it pretty uniformly everywhere, blue and red states alike.

I've been thinking about how all the young men interviewed—be they pro Trump or pro Harris, pro-life or pro-choice—seemed to think that abortion rights didn't concern them. Young men might be shocked to discover that a simple paternity test will compel child support for 18 years.
This episode of @TheRunUpNYT on g voters in WI is by turns depressing and hopeful, your politics depending, but don’t miss when the MAGA bros ask @AsteadWH to tell NYT Games to make Connections easier 😹 (at least they are playing!)

You really need to watch this @abughazalehkat video on how Polymarket "whales" are helping to lay the groundwork for the Big Lie 2.0

Today is #ClearTheShelters day. Adopting this guy was one of the best pieces of self-care I’ve ever done. And he seems pretty happy.

Break from fundraising for schools to say that if you want to protest the horrors that went on today at the border and generally with Trump's immigration policies you should donate to the @ACLU and @RAICESTEXAS, among others.

This gender gap is going to have profound effects on dating and marriage for a generation. And possibly divorce.
NEW @CBSNewsPoll data. At 21 points, gender gap in presidential race is as large as we've seen all year. Women: Harris +12.Men: Trump +9. Reflects differing attitudes about larger social issues, such as gender equality in the U.S. Read more:

The reflexive need to present dueling scandals just warps all news judgement.
This is truly wild. The Washington Post and New York Times both have the Biden gaffe as their top stories (the NYT has *two* stories about it on their home page) and not a single mention of Johnson saying they’ll repeal the ACA or a Trump official saying they’ll pull vaccines.

The internal debate over whether/when/why NYT has gotten more direct in spelling out danger of Trump (which yes it has) is fascinating. But the last paragraph, where masthead talks of what another term would mean for journalism…that’s the one to clock
In a frank internal meeting, The New York Times wrestled with its political role - @maxwelltani

Dr Phil here channeling the men that become aggrieved when women—the VP/candidate—don't give them pride of place.
Dr. Phil tells Piers Morgan he gave speech at Trump’s rally as an “act of rebellion” because Kamala Harris snubbed him:. “That was an act of rebellion on my part. I requested 25-plus times to speak to Kamala Harris, I offered to give the identical speech at a Harris rally.”

The Dems could have put her in leadership but instead decided to go with the ~80 yo that nobody has ever heard of.
How about the House add campaign finance reform to the CR so Republicans and Democrats alike can stop being so scared about what a billionaire man-child thinks before they vote on anything around here.

Rick Steves giving his endorsement to Harris/Dems from France. and who knows what if any celeb endorsements make a difference but to college educated white seniors. he is an old and trusted guide.
I miss the Grand Old Party (GOP) and long for the day when we can return to healthy and principled partisan debates. (We idealistic hippies sometimes need to be reined in by practical conservatism.) But this election is different… and much deeper than D versus R and left versus

.@JoeNeguse is also masterful. The gap in the lawyering is almost as vast as the gap in the underlying facts of the case.
