Don’t tell a doctor how to do their job especially when you’re a pharmacist trying to masquerade as a clinician.
PS: In my opinion, doctors and consultant should be protected title and not thrown away like a candy for anyone to use especially in a clinical (hospital) setting.
A very stroppy letter from a GP in response to our cardiology recommendation to merely increase the patient's beta blocker dose.
"I feel nothing more than a glorified administrator" the GP wrote.
I am not sure what else we could do.

Of course, somebody with more training and in depth knowledge of medicine( a fully qualified doctor) compared to a layperson with random 2 years Masters should be supernumerary( I agree). However, PAs are free to go around running the clinic with “appropriate supervision” 😉

He was reportedly heard saying “we gotta keep them in check”.
He further thanked PAs in the trust to pick up the vacant shifts on double the rate doctors asked for.

Just been doing some research on PA’s and I would urge everyone to understand their role.
In no way should they be paid more than a doctor, it’s shameful that is the reality of most junior doctors.
I support the doctors as everyone should be, it’s also for the future of our NHS

Here is an article showing how a PA applied some pressure and provided basic life support (which I do appreciate). Hence, all the concerns regarding PAs in clinical setting should be thrown in the bin. Fair enough.

- Do complex medical exams & procedures
- Give medical advice as paediatrician to fully qualified GP consultant.
They can surely be trained to write up all the necessary medical informations needed on discharge letter for GP.

I’m shocked that this was only 4 years ago 😱. Why is the PA programme director , one of the original cohort who qualified as a PA in 2007 , having her brain FRIED by revising 4 an exam that any teenager could pass comfortably ? So she just gets rid of it instead ?

Physician assistants role was introduced in NHS to help doctors doing admin jobs, taking bloods and so on. However, they are being used as doctors replacement with very limited medical knowledge which has already resulted in patient harm.
