Today; held a 92 year old lady’s hand and her husband’s hand as I told her he was dying. He died 2 hours later..3 days before her birthday 😥Then a hug for the daughter whose mother was very unwell preop..she got through the op🙏

Today: a patient who lost his family in awful circumstances,not left his home in 10 years admitted with an injury...spending that extra 10 minutes on the ward round to talk and listen makes a real difference. Being compassionate doesn’t take a lot of our time.

Sometimes the toughest part in being diligent when despite the commitment to the job…you don’t lose your own sense of wellness
