Dear Public: This is the training required by doctors to become a paediatric consultant. This does not include: 1. Medical school (4-5 years) 2. Foundation training (2 years) The PA course is 2 years and then they throw themselves into 'the deep end'.

Physician Associate training is not a minimum of 4 years @NHS_WCA . The PA course is 2 years. Cancer patients should not be part of a falsely advertised and misleading project. How could you fund 9 PAs to be part of this project but you can’t fund trainees?

Dear Patients @BTHFT , Those skin cancer clinics that you and your loved ones have been waiting for are not ran by medically qualified doctors. The only people that should be diagnosing skin cancer at a skin cancer clinic are Physician Dermatologist’s.

I’m going to say it again. Once PA’s reach critical mass they will self train. Setting scope of practice will only delay this. We need to take direct action to stop further training (but look after those in post). PA’s = physician assistants is what’s needed not replacement.

Apparently there are a shortage of oncology doctors, therefore East Sussex and Wessex hospitals have decided to hire physicians associates to see cancer patients instead? They want PAs to hold their own prostate and breast cancer clinics. Make it make sense.
