How much should a cardiologist (who has debt, expenses, & doesn’t start until ~ age 34) make for placing a stent & stopping a heart attack (2 am/pm doesn’t matter)?
$674
Not asking for more. But people should know we only get 2% of that bill you get. We’re not the enemy.
@IanBegley
Love this answer. As a physician I see docs and nurses and others working tirelessly and we cannot have “off days”. Our winning streak is supposed to never end. It’s easy to think the world revolves around you in sports when people are chanting your name. Love this guy!
I’m pretty private about family but friends and colleagues know my mom died last Dec and my dad just a few weeks ago. He was a true legend immigrant who came and did so much in cardiology including Cath. Miss them both so much. His obituary was just published please read ⬇️

if you use the library & multipurpose rooms that’s my dad & my contribution. My father’s gen didn’t really believe in philanthropy of this scale but he credits me with opening his eyes to how it can help others more holistically than individually.
To the fellow who wrote this about me (anonymously so please don’t name yourself - I don’t need to know) THANK YOU!
I wish I could do more & never feel I’ve done enough. My time is so stretched these days but my door is always open for a reason. Fellows can ALWAYS walk in.

My best pick me up moments as a doctor have been thoughtful things patients have sent me. I have them all over my office. Not weird at all!!

@Surgeon_General
Unfortunately appreciation doesn’t last long. How about malpractice reform, elimination of noncompetes, national medical licenses, payment reform, student loan forgiveness, workplace standards incl mat/pat leave? It would be a shame if HCWs didn’t gain appropriate changes now.
My friends know I’ve been a single dad via divorce since ‘Kiri’ was 2. Realized fast there’s no mom or dad there’s just (if lucky) someone who loves, guides & protects you with pure heart. Here’s to fathers, mothers & all the rest in that role! Ps teen boys squirm out of pics! 😆
Huge news.

My mentors did this for me & I do it for my mentees. That being said I don’t do this much red each time. I do it in iterations knowing they can’t change everything in each version & I’ll hold some for next round. It balances support & advice better.

Yes my son is now taller than me at age 13 still and can also kick my butt since he just got his first degree black belt. Impressive to watch him compete! Congratulations!! People can’t take away your real achievements.

Why don’t you help put a firewall between drug companies lobbies and Congress like we do between drug companies $ and physicians? Then our reps will vote without their pocketbooks or reelection campaigns on top of mind. Let’s not pretend people simply don’t know why we pay more.
Hello fellow docs, nurses, NPs, PAs and other healthcare workers. Apparently hospitals feel they can speak for you when it comes to those lovely noncompete clauses in your contracts ⬇️. This of course is the fundamental problem with noncompetes.
Just out. 60% of

had delay to diagnosis including avg of 4 misdiagnoses, despite 78% seeing a cardiologist around 5 times, and 1/3rd ended up in ER. We can do better!
Breaking the glass ceiling is hard. First gen. Immigrant parents. Half black half Indian. Our kids must see anything is possible w hard work, determination and a belief in progress. As a father I need to know things are getting better. This helps.
