My penance this year is to not harm myself or my healing by adding more burdens to my body or my day to day. It's the opposite of my abuse, and a change that I know God is happy to see.

I don't know who needs to hear this but if you have religious trauma it's a fine Lenten penance to do no penance this Lent, or to resolve to permit God to be extra nice to you this Lent, or to be merciful to yourself for Lent. Anything like that.

By not letting clergy groom, abuse, and assault us without consequence. A priest made a gesture simulating a sex act towards me & attempted to trap me in his office. It was declared credible, but he was back in ministry weeks later. That's how I know women don't matter.

Cardinal Hollerich asks a big question to the #Synod of Bishops. "Men and women receive the same baptism... I have never read anywhere that the baptism of women would be inferior to the baptism of men. How can we ensure that women feel they are an integral part of this Church?"

This guy was spiritual director to an unknown # of Diocese of Lansing priests. Led thousands of lay persons on spiritual retreats. There's trauma involved with finding out you handed your spiritual life over to a predator

@MRibnek Not just more reliable....as acceptable within the Catholic community. Anyone who sues to get what is owed for their care and that of their family becomes an outsider. A type of leper. Mission isn't supposed to be bigger than the care of human persons made in God's image.

@godandchocolate @AlethiaWrites When I took the course it was a story about a woman in an airport. You are completely right. I get the feeling that West needs us to buy in so badly because he needs what he's saying to be right to avoid confronting his issues. More people should confront him directly about that

I'm an exercise physiologist so I just can't help it, but does he know the same causes of the "female triad" also cause male infertility? If a man exercises excessively, has a bf % too low, or lives in a constant nutritional/caloric deficit his sperm quality/quantity plummets

@Rats2323 @godandchocolate My heart breaks for you. I firmly believe this type of thinking allows predators to sexualize spirituality and abuse others w/ those distortions...& there's a whole spectrum of it.

He used me & my vulnerability to satisfy his own needs, & he picked that day to hide what he was doing from our pastor who had taken the day off. For me, the holidays now = trauma. The only person @FrJimRolph hasn't figured out how to say no to is himself. @BishopBoyea 3/3

@Carrie_Eileen_ You can try just like @SkepticallyDan did. My bishop is desperate to make it go away. To talk about all of it takes so much longer as I'm sure you know. There are a lot of spiritual practices that I don't know if I can ever do again.

I was so bothered by this that I even asked permission to pause physical intimacy in my marriage. I was overwhelmed by spiritual trauma, & I wouldn't tell my husband (who loves me deeply) to decide on our own because I might be sinning thru "control" of physical intimacy. 3/4

@IvanDOesnot Bingo. They consider pedophilia to be a compulsion and that's why you can't get them out of the priesthood. Canon law courts tolerate this stuff the majority of the time. It encourages some of the most deviant behavior because it's more likely to be labeled as compulsive.

Someone should look into how many times Bob Schuchts counseled people to do things that endangered children, or how many times he counseled women into reconciling with abusive men in hopes of "complete healing"

The answer is probably many. The Vatican does not like to laicize predators. They say that their culpability for crimes that are "habitual or compulsive" is low. They're given minor punishments or desk jobs. Truthfully, the Vatican tolerates predators most of the time.

@mary_pezzulo I always find it interesting that the solution to pedophilia is traditional marriage & not life sentences or a higher conviction rates. God forbid we try to put our resources into it. Let's just blame all you people who won't get married!

@godandchocolate I agree. I'm my opinion someone has led him astray spiritually because they're having him focus on himself as a martyr. That would mean in his mind the people he hurt...well that stuff had to happen. God's plan because otherwise how would he be where he is now? Those women

I didn't know what to call it when someone manipulates you into telling them all of your secrets and weaknesses, and at the same time convinces you that your own judgement or discernment can't be trusted. That efforts to refuse submission are of the devil. 2/4

@godandchocolate It's a matter of public interest if it fuels the abuse crisis. They're making themselves targets for blackmail. This is about whether or not we're actually interested in prevention. Prevention removes red flags. Thinking your above conduct and behavior promises is a red flag

@BishopBoyea says you can still be a priest in good standing if you've: -caused someone to lose the ability to practice their faith w/o further trauma -caused significant loss of enjoyment of life -caused a child to develop a severe anxiety disorder from watching their mother

@FrJimRolph The diocese also told me that they do not consider Rolph "suspended" and that he remains a priest "in good standing." If he is in good standing and not suspended, then was his stay at the "behavior health center" voluntary? It's all coming off like diocese face-saving spin.

@TheMediaReport1 @jdflynn @CatholicPods I was ruled credible. Still getting pennies compared to the cost to my family. There are thousands of other survivors in my situation. Dioceses depend on us not having the legal knowledge or the funds to hire a lawyer before our SOL runs out. It's an abuse of the poor.

There have been numerous times where @bishopboyea announced issues w/ priests that were not a sexual abuse report. Keep in mind that according to the DOL, sexual harassment is not sexual abuse as was communicated to my husband by HR director Lisa Kutas by email. Fr. David

@FrJimRolph The Diocese of Lansing told me that they didn't publicly announce Rolph's leave of absence because it was not a result of a sexual abuse report. However, any time a priest is ordered to step away from ministry, it is in the public interest for the diocese to clarify the reasons.

I had not read Be Restored, and this is the most repulsive thing I've seen all day. Does @JPIIHealing support the idea that pedophiles (who cannot be cured) have free access to children as long as their family healing was "extra complete." My God, how evil.
