Oh no, oh dear, oh Heavens, the highly misogynistic series about a stalking abusive boyfriend with objectified Native American characters that literally turn into animals in it might be problematic.

I'm fat partly due to a chronic illness as well. I love to exercise. I love my yoga. I do yoga in leggings and a sports bra with my surgery-scarred muffin top spilling out. Tonya can shove off.
"The nuclear family" is not a "teaching of the Catholic Church." It's an invention of industrialization. Before the industrial revolution, a family was an oikos, a whole household. Grandparents and adult siblings and adopted children and all kinds of people.
@adrparsons
I'm one of them. It's difficult to catch everything people say when there's background music and noise, or when someone in the room is being distracting, or if I'm trying to catch the end of something turned down really low when my daughter is in the room. Many reasons.
@QasimRashid
I wonder what the pro-life movement would do if he pardoned a soldier that shot a Christian girl with a big cross on her t-shirt instead of a girl in a hijab.
I'll bet Buckingham Palace doesn't have a spring tension curtain rod and a plastic dollar store wastebasket in the spare bathroom with the top secret nuclear documents.
This is Buckingham Palace. Trump thinks Mar-a-Lago is of equal or greater value. His supporters are possibly the stupidest people to have ever lived on this planet.
Since Abby Johnson will be appearing at the RNC, I think it would be wise to post a primer on who she is, her history of abusive and racist behavior, and other reasons why she's problematic. This will be a potentially very long thread... 1/x
Friends, 79 percent of former Catholics leave the faith before turning 23. For every $20 donation, we will donate one copy of The Gospels to a college student. Will you partner with us to help ensure that the next generation remains active in their Catholic faith? Learn more:
I did it!!!! I DID IT!!!! I went to Mass and sat through the whole thing and sang songs and the deacon was there but I did NOT have a panic attack, I even shook his hand in the line on the way out!!!!
Update: morning Mass kind of did not happen. A panic attack happened. But Christmas children's Mass is usually laid back and silly and I can't imagine even the nutty deacon would ruin it, so I'm going to give it a try tonight.

Those aren't "poor and working class," though. The clothes are new, and cowboy boots are expensive (as are real hunting jackets, probably). Poor and working class students at the same school would be way scruffier and in sneakers. And also not okay to tease.
On the twelfth of December, 2009, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, with a $30 bouquet of fake silk roses and adorable naivete about the cultlike high-control religious group they were a part of, these two nerds got married.
Among the million and one reasons this meme is trash: Christ washed feet. Christ cooked breakfast. Christ tended sick people. Christ listened to children. If a man wants to pretend he's Head-Of-Family-As-Christ-Is-Head-Of-Church, he has to do housework.

Fibromyalgia slows the metabolism, makes you fatigued all the time, and can cause random swelling. Yoga makes me able to breathe and have a clear head. I embraced it. I used to run but I couldn't deal with the harassment. As if they've never seen a fat woman in leggings.

I must admit I like the dress code because I like decorum and rules and ceremony. But the party that booed and yelled at the State of the Union while Marge was wearing a fur coat from the Chronicles of Narnia doesn't get to complain about shorts.

: Prince William said it's rather normal to see war and bloodshed in Africa and Asia but not Europe, during a visit to the Ukrainian Cultural Centre in London today. "It's very alien to see this in Europe. We are all behind you," he told the volunteers there.
I am not Trans. You should not listen to me when it comes to Trans issues, you should listen to Trans people. But I really wish you guys would stop saying "they think they can change their gender!" The whole point is that they don't think that. Bear with me here. 1/2
@TalbertSwan
If he was black, they'd already be launching a gofundme for the legal fees of the cop who would've shot him about five seconds into this interaction.
For corn's sake, everybody, we're CATHOLICS. We're not Evangelical Protestants. We're the decadent ones who smoke, drink, chew, gamble and go to the dancing hall on a Saturday. The drink is in our blood. Of COURSE we're allowed to like sex. Please talk about something else.
Okay, it's a day before every survivor's least favorite Catholic feast, so let's get this over with: it is not a sin to be a victim of someone else's sin. It's only a sin to commit a sin. Period.
Hot take: the Church shouldn't have princes. She should have shepherds. Having "princes of the Church" in their silly silkens and satins and fancy things instead of shepherds dwelling with the sheep is one of the ways the Church went so wrong.
It bothers me how the Woman at the Well is always painted as this evil divorcee Jesus converted. Women at that time couldn't walk away from a marriage. Women were property. If she'd had five husbands, it wasn't by her choice.
@ellle_em
It's just so ironic because lasagna is one of those dishes that actually COMES WITH A VEGETARIAN VERSION. Even I know how to make vegetarian lasagna.
Apparently the first thing that happens when you're Officially Disowned from a Nice Faithful Catholic Family is the agnostic hippie relations start writing to you to tell you the family secrets. This has been an interesting 24 hours.
I was seven when I was first left home alone (not all day). This family was homeless and the mom working to feed them. Why in God's name are they charging her instead of getting them some help?
Unpopular take:
The highest vocation is to do the best that you can with the life that you're given, trusting that if God wanted you to be somebody else He would have created somebody else, even and especially if this doesn't look the way other Catholics think that it should.
Things have reached such a point that I absolutely cannot tell if this is real or a parody. Nor can I tell whether the model in the photo is the woke man you're supposed to resist emulating or the man using the product you're supposed to emulate.
@mcmansionhell
I think a generation ago they were Janet and Karen was the bratty little girl we were all supposed to like in the Baby-Sitters' Club. Arnold's Karen-ish cousin in The Magic Schoolbus was also called Janet.
I'm afraid most of us are not going to hear it in Church this Sunday, so I'd like to remind everyone that racism is a grave sin for which you could burn in hell.
What if we took all the money and effort and charter buses and so forth that went into the useless self-congratulatory March for Life, and used it to help actual mothers and children?
The correct response to a grown man and total stranger approaching you after church with "God told me that your underage daughter should be my bride," is "What a coincidence, God told me to bring this pepper spray to Mass."
Is the
@USCCB
going to deny communion to Bill Barr and to Amy Barrett and to every Catholic who just participated in murdering a harmless man in cold blood?
Two things can be true at the exact same time:
1. Human life is sacred from conception until natural death and we have to do everything we can to stop all forms of killing.
2. The pro-life movement is a racist misogynistic scam that just wants your money.
Okay momentary time-out. I have always been anti-war. I am anti ALL war. Ukrainians didn't choose a war. They were minding their own business and Putin sent troops in to murder them. The anti-war response to this is to support Ukraine. End of story.
@hannahposts
And if the government gives the kids to other relatives instead of strangers, they give them LESS MONEY. But none at all for just parents.
There was a point in history at which America had a choice what her Christianity would look like. There were the Carters building a house for the poor and there was Mike Pence being an absolute weirdo creep, and we went with Pence, and may God forgive us.
Just in: The Supreme Court has vacated a lower court's 11th-hour order that had blocked tonight's scheduled execution of Orlando Hall. Breyer, Kagan & Sotomayor dissent.

I'm pretty sure there's as much difference from the tobacco that the Native Americans had and the tobacco in a pack of modern-day cigarettes, as there is between the corn they grew and Roundup Ready GMO corn.
I don't know who needs to hear this today but you didn't kill Jesus, He came to suffer with you voluntarily because He loves you, and you're allowed to be happy.
Six years I have been trying to expose that despicable con artist. Six years. In 2016 his cultists told me he would one day be a canonized saint. "Saint Frank of New York." Merry Christmas to me.
I would like to exclaim:
-Your children are NOT ANNOYING when they play with their palm branches at Mass
-no sensible person minds when a cute child from the next pew pokes them with palm branches at Mass
-if people glare at you for that I will tickle them with my palm branch
If someone mentions that they've been so hurt by the Catholic Church that they can't stand it anymore and your response is "That was human beings not the Catholic Church blah blah tHe EUcHaRISt AnD THE VirGiN MArY," I'm sorry but you are a horrible person and a gaslighter.
This "Ask Your Husband" mug has a smarmy picture of the Virgin Mary, world famous for not stopping to ask Saint Joseph her betrothed for permission before getting pregnant.
They call people who want to teach sex education to their children "groomers" but when an actual adult man tells Trad Catholic homeschoolers the Lord gave him a Divine command to court their sixteen-year-old that's perfectly fine.
I don't know who needs to hear this but I promise that if you wanted to get baptized and tried to get baptized and thought you were baptized and accidentally the priest used the wrong pronoun and you die, you won't go to hell because of the priest's mistake.

If praying types could pray. I've got a chronic illness that triggers fatigue. I've got a daughter in middle school for the first time after homeschooling and she keeps bringing home germs. I catch the germs every ten days or so and my body can't take it anymore...
Okay, NOW I can say what was happening this morning. She requested I not post the picture of her in her good dress shirt, but Adrienne just received her first Holy Communion.
I can't wait for Steubenville Catholics to continue saying "He's not perfect and you don't have to like him but he's YOUR president and you owe him respect, this was God's will" starting tomorrow. Oh yes indeed.
Hey guys, I just checked the news feed of the church where that horrible brawl broke out and they're asking people to please not share the video out of respect for the Mass and not spreading gossip about a deranged person. I deleted mine. Can we all? Thanks.
Don’t you dare say 16 year old Ma’Khia was shot to death by police because she had a knife!
Kyle Rittenhouse had AR-15 style rife and walked around police after actually killing two people!
He wasn’t shot. WHY WAS SHE?!
Religious trauma is really hard. Living in Steubenville makes it much harder. I waited until I was able to say I was doing it only because I want to, not because I would be in trouble. But I did it.
#NoSinGang
Traddies would hate the real Saint Joseph because he was a person of color from the Middle East, he believed a pregnant teenager and protected her from shame, he didn't believe himself entitled to sex, and he kept his mouth shut.
Student are legally required to be in school whether they would like to or not (justly). Saying that we shouldn't have to feed people who legally can't leave during lunch unless they also perform manual labor is obscene. Also it's dangerous for kids to work in food service.
@mary_pezzulo
There is no such thing as a free lunch. Those who wish to keep lunches in schools should adopt some levels of accountability for these meals. Students need to clean the lunch room, for example, and be prepared to help out preparing meals.
Trans people are TRUE to their gender.
Gender nonconforming people, butches and such, are true to their gender in a different way.
People who are stereotypical like me with my dresses and makeup, are true to their gender in a third way.
There's no "thinking you can change."
So if Abby Johnson only randomly attacked Bishop Talbert Swan with racist names because she was stressed from it being her conversion anniversary... what was her excuse when she randomly attacked Father James Martin? And everybody else she randomly attacks every so often?
Imagine if the Catholic Church was as vocal and in-your-face about, say, the Universal Destination of Goods or racism being a sin, as it is about reminding LGBTQ people they can't get gay-married every five minutes.
When I was at Franciscan University, the young ladies would preach to one another "Never be afraid of submission. Submission just means 'to be under the mission of.' The mission of the husband is to serve his wife!" Anyway a lot of those girls are divorced now.
Nones: We left the Church because they went from hiding their abuse of the vulnerable to blaming it on queer people and that's horribly unjust. Also you voted for Trump.
Barron: *popping out from a well* Ah, but would you like this cheap Gospel tract for a mere twenty dollars?
What if we just... helped one another? Brought each other casseroles? Threw baby showers? Grew a community garden? What if we just cut out all the weirdness and practiced mutual aid?
This is especially rich coming from a woman who was filmed at two different places right by the steps at the Capitol Riot and didn't turn herself in to the FBI.
I'm a Catholic apologist! Being gay is like having bulimia! But it's not like sugar free gum or walking on your hands. Being bi is like riding a bicycle made of fish. Being ace is like eating paste. Taking birth control is like putting beans up your nose. Support my apostolate.
It was the people of color in Philly and in Georgia who did this. Not the suburban housewives. Not the economically insecure working class Appalachian whatever. They failed us, so the people of color in Georgia and Philly dragged the country to safety.
I wonder if Catholic priests on Twitter realize that Twitter is public, and people who are already scared to go back to confession or try this Catholic thing for the first time are watching, and if you act like a grouchy crab over a trivial issue like sweatpants, they see.
No matter how traumatized and cynical I get about my Catholic faith, I am always delighted to learn about saints. They're all so terribly eccentric. I'm sure most canonized saints were on the spectrum. Some were just plain nuts. They're wonderful.
