You'd think he would, IDK, put some cones out or something. Do anything to signal to drivers that there's an obstruction in the lane before they are in a position where they can't switch to a different one.
Nah, better to play the victim.
@SethDillon
Why can't some people be happier without kids? The same things don't produce the same results in everyone.
I've got 8 kids. I can see both perspectives.
@HazelAppleyard_
For some reason, I watched this whole video. And as it played on, as the father of five sons, all I could see is a little boy who was somehow failed dramatically by his parents. The manic episode doesn't fool me. This poor guy is so lost.

@aaron_clarey
Idk what you’re compensating for, but you’ve done a masterful job of making this way of living look entirely unappealing and gross. Well done!
@napoleon21st
Back in the 90s, one of my best friends, an Idaho farm boy of German stock who was built like a Mack Truck, was given drugged tea at a Morocco carpet shop. He bought two carpets, feeling no connection to what he was doing.
He disputed the charges on his credit card. Free rugs.

Who are you trying to convince?
Does every 8 year old you meet make you wonder?
I spent my day with this guy, who I wasn't excited to learn we had conceived. I was wrong. He's amazing.
My struggles with faith & God being what they are, there's still a part of me that knows I may be wrong. And with that in mind, I ask for your prayers for the 13-month-old daughter of a friend who is in the ICU with unexplained liver failure. It sounds grim.
@goinggodward
Overly simplistic.
Imagine living in a scenario where the person you love most does a lot of things that just don’t make sense to you. You try to figure it out, but every time you think you’ve got it you find out you’re wrong. You know they get upset with you when you don’t get
How is there no cell phone video of whatever it was??
A Las Vegas family claims something crashed in their backyard, prompting them to call 911 about non-human beings...the thing is, this time, several people saw it.

I’m tired of being angry. I’ve learned to stop turning it on my family, but I need to be kinder to everyone else. That means finally facing lots of childhood wounds. I’m starting on that journey now, hopefully with some qualified help. If I’ve been harsh with you, I’m sorry.
@JRHorsting
It’s called hyperbole, and people do it ALL THE TIME.
“I could kill for a cheeseburger right now!”
“You don’t like my favorite movie? You’re dead to me now!”
“Did you see the football game on Sunday? I could barely watch. It was a bloodbath.”
It’s time for you to grow up.

Well, since adulting is overrated and stressful, I kind of feel like more power to you if you've found a way to stick with that teen energy. I think often about how great my senior year was, and it was almost 30 yrs ago. I have kids now, so I can't do that. But he can.
@WallStreetApes
I have a friend who was in Afghanistan a decade or so ago as a JAG. His job was to adjudicate civilian claims against the occupying US government. He told me that Afghanis would send their toddlers out to get run over by US convoys because it would maximize their compensation as
I’ve always wonder if I’d be ready if I see a UFO. The answer is no. I was driving home from the airport with my wife & kids who just got home from a trip, & saw this. Tried to pull out my phone & hilarity ensued. It’s so cliche not to be able to get a UFO video.

Well, almost four months later, we were finally able to get our son baptized. It only took a trip to the East Coast and a visit to an old priest friend who is a true pastor. His concern for my difficulties with faith was one thing; his unquestioning baptism of my son another.
I'm starting to think that this discussion between
@ScottAdamsSays
&
@BretWeinstein
is much more important than it appears on the surface. At its core, it's a discussion about the need for a new epistemology, and how to verify its effectiveness.
We ALL need to understand this.
I understand Scott Adams’ point. It’s false, but contains truth. The question: Is he interested in correcting his error, or does he prefer to fend off the information to protect himself (or his public persona) from damage he imagines would follow an acknowledgment of his mistake?
My dad just called & told me his brother Marty passed away just a couple months after his wife died. I never got to know Marty well, but he’s only 5 years older than my dad.
If you’re the praying sort, please pray for his soul, for his kids, & for the siblings he leaves behind.
Was discussing w/friend the traditional Catholic view that most of mankind is/will be damned. He replied, "The thought that most of creation is destined for eternal torment is bleaker and more nihilistic than an atheistic conviction that everything ends in nothing."
I agree 100%
@existentialcoms
Wait, you're talking about Communism, the ideology that killed 100 million people in the 20th century, a great many of them through forced famines?
THAT Communism? Is this some kind of sick joke?
@mysteriouskat
Do you remember that time an under-15 boys' soccer team took on the US Women's National team and spanked them?
Our physical capabilities are WILDLY disparate. Popular culture has tricked us into believing otherwise.
She was crying at Midnight Mass, but not for why you might think. The choir had just begun singing a hymn in Latin and I looked over to see tears streaming down her cheeks, so I asked what was wrong and she said “I’m just so overwhelmed with how beautiful everything is!”😭🙏🏻❤️
I've said before and will say again: we're entering a new Dark Age, but this time the problem will not be lack of access to information, but being deluged by far too much, little of it obviously trustworthy.
Nobody cares about Neil Young’s music. I have literally never met anyone who does. It sucks, and he should feel bad for inflicting it on us, let alone thinking he could use it as leverage to censor someone.
I just stayed up until almost 3AM having a deep conversation with my almost 15 yo son about religion, philosophy, good & evil, the supernatural, family trauma, and more.
We even talked about some old wounds I caused when he was little and I was overbearing and angry. I got the
I supposedly have 14.6K followers on this thing, but only a handful of people ever interact with me here. If you're seeing this, would you please post a reply to tell me you're a real human and not a bot or a deactivated account? A single word like "here" would do.
I've known too many Catholic men who, working as educators, are borderline destitute. I talked to one today who said, "They just assume there will be two incomes."
Have Catholic schools, especially those that charge exorbitant tuition, room, and board, ever even read Catholic
Kids were asking me why ladybugs are called ladybugs, and I was doing my best dad “well, son, I think it’s because of X” but I looked it up and I honestly did not know this & would not have guessed

Ritchson. He is the only actor with the physique and raw brutality to be The Batman while having the charisma to be Bruce Wayne.
It's not even close.
Did we level up on gay stuff all of a sudden? Every show and movie now seems to have a gratuitously gay character, even though it does nothing to serve the story. I want to watch things (especially with my kids) without this being shoved in my face. It’s just obnoxious.
@Enezator
This is the dumbest thing I've ever seen and I want my 90 seconds back.
I am going to be on my deathbed thinking about all the things I could have done with that 1:30 that is lost to me forever.
Little man hanging out on the counter next to me while I make coffee, looking for whatever trouble he can get into. 6 months old yesterday. Love him to death.
Being on Twitter is going to be unbearable for a while. Everyone will be unleashing their strongest abortion rhetoric, none of which will change anyone else’s mind, as the conflict amps to a fever pitch.
All because we can’t agree that killing tiny humans is wrong. Wild.

This almost makes the absolute dumpster fire of a season worth it. I can't remember when anything about this team was this much fun.
I complain a lot about the bad behavior of other Catholics, but sometimes I get the most thoughtful messages from the good ones. Really just floored at how considerate this was. And she’s right - it’s very odd.
But I just wanted to give credit to the good guys. Thank you!
"Oh, you're having a hard time with faith? Allow me, as someone who is representing myself as a Catholic, to be a complete and total asshole to you under the protection of anonymity. That should convince you of the error of your ways!"

Not a political tweet. Trump lost me with his conduct after the election. But do we really think Putin would be doing this if Trump were still in office? My gut says no.
Unless I’ve missed it, it’s pretty stunning that

couldn’t be bothered to comment on the Roe decision. If JPII were still pope, it’s impossible to imagine him being silent. And BXVI would certainly have said something, too.
I needed to run out and grab something we needed for today's cooking. Every store in this town (except pharmacies) is closed.
I can't tell you the last time I lived somewhere where that happened, & it feels like the America in grew up in. People are at home where they should be.
The reason we need a new epistemology is because the old ways of knowing things no longer work. We face loss of trust in institutions, experts squandering credibility, information overload -- much of it false, & widespread insufficient capacity to discern truth in any of it.
Tonight, we celebrate our official relocation to New England, and me getting yet another year older. There's only one way to do this properly, and so we have:
I've lost a couple hundred followers in the past couple of weeks. Being more open and willing to discuss my deep struggles with the faith seems to be the catalyst. I'm glad to shed the kind of people who have no empathy for that. And grateful for those of you who have remained.

I’m Gen X. I’ve got five boys and three girls. Boys are easier. Less drama, less attitude, lower maintenance.
This isn’t a value proposition, just a truism. I don’t want my girls to be boys instead. But I don’t think I’ve ever run into another parent who disagreed.
Some of you asked for an update. I have one, & it's not great. Things getting worse. Still unconscious, still intubated, heart rate slower, & she's showing jaundice. Doctors fear she's too weak for a liver transplant. Possible brain swelling, no MRI results yet. Keep praying pls.

Since it seems everyone is talking about Carlo Acutis this week, here's a post I wrote on the topic just a few days after leaving 1P5. I argued then (and the argument holds up just as well now) that what trads are doing in their opposition here is wildly counterproductive.

I've come to realize that this thing

I realize the ferocity with which I love my children makes some folks uncomfortable. I raise kids with significant childhood trauma. You want to heal a child’s wounded heart? You tell them you would burn the world down for them without hesitation and mean it.

Why not just do good work and let merit be your badge of honor?
I'm assuming that not everyone in academia is a serial plagiarist, but perhaps that's naive.
So all the new payment terminals throw a tipping question to you when you go to order counter service. And it bugs me, because I feel cheap if I don’t do it, but it’s counter service. Why am I tipping for a basic retail transaction? Nobody is waiting on my table. Is it just me?
Saying "the jab," just like saying "Obummer" or "demonrats" or "rethuglicans" or any other not-too-clever-by-half political portmanteaus is just signaling that you have no intention of having a civil, respectful conversation about this topic with people who disagree.
Stop it.
