FYI to people not in the field of science: a singular Y chromosome does not indicate what phenotype you'll actually have. It doesn't guarantee you a penis, it doesn't guarantee you testosterone, and it doesn't guarantee you increased muscle strength. Sorry not SRY.

Yes. Those are two very important questions to ask. Gun violence is the number leading cause of death in children. And cosleeping with your infant increases their risk of SIDS.
@basiI_22
@calebsaysthings
Me too! Clothes that *traditional* models wear on ads never look good on me. It's just not a realistic expectation. It's nice to see some representation of how other bodies look.
@JoeyTwoMiles
@JanuaryDoNoHarm
Exactly. Over the age of 12, we screen for abuse, drug/alcohol use, sex, anxiety, depression...things that teens may not reveal to their parents. And if there is something concerning from a medical standpoint, we let the parents know afterwards.

@KirstiMiller30
@UglaStefania

Completely agree. I pull all my 12 year olds aside and let them know that they are legally allowed to seek healthcare on their own without parental consent/notification. It's called minor rights and is upheld in most states.
@alor2610
@JanuaryDoNoHarm
But what a parent considers "healthy" might be different from a physician's opinion. I literally just found a 4 year old with undescended testicles who will now likely need surgery. This was during a routine physical. Mom had no idea and thought everything was normal.
@TransylvanFarm
@JanuaryDoNoHarm
Well if she hadn't had sex yet then awesome??? I've had so many teens tell their parents they haven't had sex but really they have, in every way and in every form. Then they test positive for STDs. Would never have found out if the parent hadn't left the room
@therealmissjo
@JanuaryDoNoHarm
The amount of teenagers that were found to have STDs that would've been missed otherwise since according to their parents, they haven't had sex yet.

You don't think cosleeping with an infant will increase their risk of death? This is the equivalent of having your baby sleep with a loose blanket, pillows, and stuffed animals in their crib

pretty sure the only ppl doing any "manipulation" are the ones telling children what gender they are, when they are total strangers and don't even know them

I have a patient coming in tomorrow and was warned they are looking for a doctor's note to decline MMRV, IPV, DTaP for school.... This will be fun.

Ppl are sick. So far, no of these transphobes have made a solid argument, they keep dodging the questions or contradict themselves in circles

I went into the men's bathroom the other day. Also have short hair and often get mistaken for a man. The store employee freaked out and was desperately trying to tell me it was the men's bathroom. I was like, ok....I need need to pee and it was the closese bathroom.

My cousin's gaydar is so strong she realized I'm gay YEARS before I did. I'm bi and I wonder if it's cuz bi ppl assume they're straight cuz they also like ppl that are the same sex as them? Whatever happened, she found out before I did haha

The section isn't replacing the term "women". It's literally a pregnancy screen. So if you happen to be a woman who is capable of being pregnant, this pertains to you. If you do not have any possibility of becoming pregnant, you can skip this section.

You'd rather have your taxes pay for a child's life for the next 18 years? And medical care for the woman during and after her pregnancy?

That's crazy. I worked at a children's hospital and although COVID didn't hit kids that hard, the ones that got the virus came back in a few weeks later trying to die from MIS-C. THAT was bad.

The hormones work the same way as endogenous hormones would. Also, they can totally come off HRT. It's not like they're bound to them for life. SOME medications are contraindicated in pregnancy but not all

The pride flag, on a lanyard, for instance, is experienced as a political declaration by patients. It does not belong in a professional, ethical doctor-patient relationship. The patients, who are often hurting, terrified and anxious, should not have to deal also with our

I think what she means is that his death will be even worse than where they currently are at. Currently they are able to keep him comfortable, that's why they chose to stay in the hospital instead of going home.

So offensive when men think women can't fix up houses. Like, can I cook? No. Can I file my taxes? No. Can I recaulk a shower, custom cut PVC pipes to fix my sink, install vinyl flooring, replace baseboards, redo a screen door...? Hmmm...

Omg please educate yourself on how hormonal contraceptives work. On menstrual suppression, your uterus does not develop a lining. Blood is not gonna back up and it's not gonna give you cancer. If anything, menstrual suppression decreases your risk of uterine cancer.

If you at all feel uncomfortable with your gyn then go to a different one. Why should they have to prove to you they have a vagina before they see you?

This apparently is in the UK, so I don't know the laws there. But in the US, minors get these rights at age 12. Allows them to seek care for anything they don't feel comfortable bringing up to their parents. Or if they need care BECAUSE they don't feel safe with their parents.

Key word. "Almost always". What if the parent turns out to be the abuser and no one ever found out because the child never had the opportunity to speak up. Or what if the child was abused by someone else but didn't feel comfortable telling said parent?

Not with surgery, but there is data that shows youth suicide rates decreased significantly just by ppl using their preferred names and pronouns. No meds or adverse effects. 100% reversible, yet transphobes insist on bullying them.
