Normal Democrat in LA becoming irritated with "progressive" "solutions." Just trying to make Hollywood a safe, walkable neighborhood. Formerly
@LarryWebsite
Today, I voted no on the new LAPD contract which would allocate an additional $1 billion over the next four years to increase officer salaries. (🧵)

Nithya Raman swears that the DSA had nothing to do with her decision to run, but
@EthanWeaverLA
is correct. Here is disgraced DSA member Josh “the Holocaust was funny” Androsky confirming that the DSA drafted her to run against Ryu. Raman still hasn’t denounced Josh or the DSA.
What kind of zoning do you need to put a shanty town next to rubbing alcohol and wooden pallet storage? Couldn’t they have stored something safer under the highway, like fireworks and oily rags?
POV: you’re a pedestrian in CD13 but you’re happy because
@cd4losangeles
&
@HugoForCD13
care about safe streets and are going to paint new crosswalks on Hollywood Blvd
How many times do you need to do this before you’re put in jail or a mental institution for your own safety?
@HugoForCD13
is it cool if I light cars on fire outside your family’s house every few days? Can I do this near your mansion
@nithyavraman
?
Why is it always extremely privileged people like this telling you how privileged you are? “As a stay at home documentary film maker I think traffic seems ok”
watching traffic on google maps with part of the 10 out, and honestly doesn't seem that abnormal. almost feels like without as many freeways, people will adapt... crazy idea...
Patient refusing fent for a VERY invasive procedure in tears because she "doesnt want to overdose"
Thanks to cops and drug alarmists I have to talk down a patient who is having an anxiety attack and really needs this procedure.
“And as you might have seen, there was some sort of rave or desert party where they were having a great time, until the resistance came in electrified hang gliders and took at least several dozen hipsters” Speeches held at the ‘All Out For Palestine’ protest outside the Israeli
It’s instructive that people are reacting to the I-10 “arson” allegations as somehow exonerating the homeless. For some people the word “homeless” implies a compete lack of agency, which means they couldn’t commit arson - they could only burn something down accidentally.
This guy has been living on this corner for months. This is the second time he burned cars. He has been arrested zero times. They cleaned up his tent area but my neighbor saw him around the corner a few hours ago. There’s a serial arsonist and no one will arrest him!

I think they realized they’re not cool anymore and they need to make some money while they still can. In an ironic anti capitalist way of course.
Interesting that Hugo’s office has nothing to say about the Selma cleanup. He wasn’t even down there yesterday but he has time to go to Netflix for pictures with celebs.
@samyebri
I fact checked her denial that the DSA got her to run the first time and
@EthanWeaverLA
is correct, here’s the DSA’s Josh Androsky talking about how they convinced her to run against Ryu .
@bendreyfuss
It’s very funny that they thought saying “oh, actually this isn’t racist” would work here after all their experience using this line of attack against others.

Throwing away a decade of political capital after getting three city counselors elected because I wanted a like from Pisspiggranddad? Yeah it’s called praxis binch
The tide is turning. These people in charge of California are all cowards who will move whichever way the wind is blowing. Stay windy my friends, we are winning.
On homelessness,
@ElonMusk
has touched on a key issue.
California has made record investments — $15.3 bil.
But federal courts block local efforts to clear street encampments — even when housing and services are offered.
Courts must also be held accountable. Enough is enough.
Angelenos boo dismissive/senseless answer & eye-roll from Councilwoman Nithya Raman on her refusal to enforce ordinance prohibiting homeless encampments next to schools/daycare centers: “I don’t think a kid is going to be safer because a tent is 500 ft away from a school.” Insane
@asmamk
@AugustaHollywd
I feel bad for this lady and her family but I’m also confused… if Gaza is an open air prison where no one can come and go freely, how do Americans manage to go on vacation there?
This is what I’ve been saying and the angle we need to take with Hugo. Unchecked homelessness is most harmful to the working class people who have to deal with it.
“…a union survey conducted this fall found that roughly 40% of parks employees had been threatened, harassed or physically attacked while at work. Half of those said it happened at least three times.”
@GinaViolaPeake
@CD13LosAngeles
@MayorOfLA
If you’re mad at this after they gave everyone housing literally nothing will make you happy. I’m glad the street is clean for returning students and teachers and so is everyone else in the neighborhood!
This is the frustrating thing about LA, they do goofy La Sombrita projects because of crazy regulations, but also if some tweaker wants to build a fort covering the entire sidewalk outside a middle school that’s OK. Embrace the libertarianism of the tweakers or don’t, pick one!
This first gen Sombrita was designed to get to work fast within the current policy landscape. To avoid permit and multi-agency coordination, it had to meet these City standards: be less than 24” wide, maintain 4ft clearance, be entirely on the pole, be durable, and be removable.
@CrotserJeremiah
@janecoaston
Prison is for the benefit of everyone not in prison, its main purpose is not to help the prisoner but improve society. And that’s ok!
Why are people confused by this? Everything costs 25% more than it did 4 years ago, there are two more wars, a lot of people didn’t get raises, stock market flat for three years, housing prices keep going up. If you already own a house you’re doing great, if you don’t you aren’t!
@DEADLINE
I support the strike for the most part but when I see the most annoying people of all time repping the WGA and look up their IMDB page to find they’ve never written anything ever… start to care a lot less
We shouldn’t let Nithya Raman and Eunisses Hernández off the hook, they need to renounce Josh Androsky as well. So does the LA-DSA. Here he is bragging about being the mastermind who engineered the progressive takeover of city council.
@cd4losangeles
@EunissesH
Hi Los Angeles, I know it’s rough for some of you but please keep envisioning, talking about, calling for alternatives to just putting the freeway back
The ultimate boon would to give the land back to those displaced by the construction of the 10 or the native people
Now Nithya Raman swears that she isn’t led by progressive advocacy groups, but in 2020 Ground Game LA was bragging about co-governing with her. If co-governance is so good for the community why does she pretend they aren’t doing it?
@shellenberger
@GavinNewsom
I’m not a huge fan of Gavin’s but I feel like if you want to jump down his throat while he’s clearly rethinking his policy on this you might not be serious about fixing this problem either.
DSA LA needs a leadership change. I'm being asked to doorknock for a DSA endorsed candidate that refuses to call for a ceasefire. Those calls are called unreasonable and waste of time. 😭😬
as we figure out the budget today, what matters most to me is making sure that the org is fiscally stable, while also avoiding cuts that would seriously damage the ability of the org to operate effectively and cause a spiral due to administrative decay
Unite Here using LA’s homeless population as a negotiating tool is pretty gross. Essentially they threatened “do what we say or we will fill your hotels with homeless people,” while pretending this was to help them.

If I called an ambulance every time I saw someone passed out on the sidewalk I’d literally have to do it every time I leave my apartment. You can’t save everyone unfortunately.
