@ShadowbanSlam @tolstoybb You literally think it’s Yahoo finance with a black background, don’t you?

@jamano1871 @newyork_dc @ASFleischman Problem is there are a lot of idiots with money and none of them have had any luck with electric cars, reusable rockets, or getting themselves appointed shadow president, let alone all three. Another explanation is needed

@ILuvWesker @Nljigakulive @latimes I mean, if someone comes along and says “I’ll pay you $X” I don’t think it’s some great moral evil to say “sure, deal”

@lawidowta @Nljigakulive @latimes If there are two families and one house then one family is going to end up homeless. Sure you can prefer a system where it isn’t always the poorer family, I understand that. But there’s no law you can pass that just magics up extra space for everyone

@lawidowta @Nljigakulive @latimes LA has fewer houses than it did yesterday, and just as many people who need them. No amount of magical messing with rent will fit more people into fewer houses, it really is that simple. Rent prices will not come down until there are more houses to replace those that burned

@lawidowta @Nljigakulive @latimes You understand that “everyone” includes the rich people who had their homes burned down, don’t you? If you’re really sticking with “you should accept your kids being homeless rather than outbid anyone else” then idk what to tell you, enjoy watching Republicans win every election

@Nljigakulive @latimes No, rich people have their homes burned down and their first reaction is “my family needs somewhere to live and I have enough money to outbid other renters so I’m going to do that in order to piece things back together”

@FalconXFactor @SamRoseBaum @openyou48445014 @ChildrenNeedUs_ @latimes When there are more people who need holes than homes to put them in, what exactly is the “humane and moral” way to decide who doesn’t get one?

@Saren_Gas @eyeslasho You see how that’s a headline from literally yesterday, right? I think what you’re describing will exist in a few years, but it’s not surprising that it doesn’t exist right now

@Saren_Gas @eyeslasho Yes but not English Sign language genuinely is a *different language*, not just a weird representation of English. Koreans can read too, doesn’t mean they can read English

@contradecline @LatterDayHart @memeticsisyphus One day you’ll grow up and realise how much work hiring people is. Paying a recruiter to take it off my plate is 100% worth the cost

@Phillip37356081 @Noahpinion It was a ballot measure (Prop 103), nothing Gavin could have done to stop it

@ClevelandB4858 @Noahpinion “Encouraging rich people to live in fire danger areas and making everyone else pay for that risk” is not actually a necessary service

@besttrousers Unironically a History of Economic Thought class is a huge value add, but the marginal value falls off quickly (reading entire books is a waste, but few people wouldn’t benefit from a well-chosen chapter of Smith or Ricardo)

@bryancsk I use movers, packers, cleaners, the whole lot but I still maintain that anyone who needs to hire help to build IKEA furniture is a loser
