I just bought my first piece of dirt. After 30 years of payments the interest expense will increase the total cost by 37.75%. Praise be to God I secured a low rate

@BeetfarmerDave I bought an $800 lawn mower at our parts store (wouldve been $120 cheaper online) and asked if they could throw in a mint for free that they sell in the counter jar for $0.25 After they said no I buy a lot more on Amazon now

@GrainHedging For the Farms that didn't expand or buy too much equipment they can probably handle 2 years of drawdown easily. There is a ton of cash out there

@DamianPMason @biosteward @GoddessofGrain @cheesetrader1 Large farms recognize this and break off into another entity when they are close to the maximum payments from gov. Wives have a farm, kids have a farm, grandma has a farm. They're not dumb. Gov puts that cap in place but the system will always be abused.

@TheGrainiac @Badgerswimr Affects premiums big time. Volatility factor for pricing premiums is the average volatility over the last 5 trading days of February. So yeah. Big revenue protection big insurance premiums to be paid.

@gretasaylor #1 networking Main reason I'd recommend going to college. Lots of business opportunities, contacts that can be leveraged down the road, new ideas and perspectives. As a student I'd focus less on course planning and more on how to leverage networking if i could do it again.

A general rule of thumb... When adding a new farm family to the operation, multiply their living expenses by 5 to calculate additional gross revenue needed. i.e. $70,000 living expense x 5 = $350,000 This means, in order for the operation to support a new farm family, gross

@CBKimbrell @DalOBrien I like the conspiracy the auto makers wanted the strike. Falling consumer demand, didn’t want inventory to build on lots with high rates Solution - keep supply low with a worker strike and slow down manufacturing Sell less units, charge more with “low” supply Chess not checkers

@blonglet @NickHorob I favor the KISS method too much…. Just ask your dealer what rates are for leasing per hour. Charge yourself that. Or take a percentage off that rate for age of equipment. Moot calc anyway farmers will run what they can afford to run.

@OdeleinDwight The easiest way to reduce costs per acre is spreading out your overhead. Unless expanding requires more overhead of course. Do both.
