Thank you to everyone supporting
#InternationalMensDay
today! My 14th year on the campaign. See below on how to get involved.
Happy International Men’s Day to all men and boys across the UK, and, to all those wonderful women and girls who support them.
Very concerning report. One thing amongst many that stands out is all 30 teenage stabbing homicide victims were young men, yet it is not said. Why is this basic fact erased. Is it because they are young men?

This is a disgraceful image and "debate" (even if "satirical") at the best of times by

I was pleased to be able to join domestic abuse survivor, Richard Spencer, this morning on
@BBCBreakfast
in Manchester to explain how men can get help. His documentary is on
@channel5_tv
tonight at 10 called My Wife, My Abuser: The Secret Footage
#MenYouAreNotAlone
This is the most wonderful thing I have seen in a long time. What great guys and is another great example of grassroots male support groups, being created by men, on men's terms, in men's language and in male spaces. Cheers to The Grieving Pint.
A big thank you to the
@5_News
team for inviting the brilliant
@DrLizBates
and I on tonight and for the great research. Really important to highlight male victims of coercive and controlling behaviour
#CoerciveControl
@ManKindInit
“Non-physical forms of abuse are some of the most prevalent types that you see in relationships – and that’s for men and women.”
A 5 News investigation reveals that more than one in 10 of those experiencing coercive control are men.

@BelvedereBrooks
Thank you to everyone who has supported me down the years (especially my wife,
@BelvedereFeeBee
) and more importantly, the
@ManKindInit
and anyone who is a victim of domestic abuse of all genders. Here is my statement:
Congratulations to our Chair, Mark Brooks
@BelvedereBrooks
, for being awarded an OBE for services to male victims of domestic abuse. He pays tribute to the charity's staff, volunteers, fundraisers, donors, survivors and victims here:
@MindCharity
This is very unhelpful/wrong. Are you saying
@dele_official
was "unreal" until he spoke out? There are many reasons why men don't ask for help/ talk - calling them unreal if they don't is one. Sad such a lack of understanding of the male barriers from a mental health charity.
Yesterday was UK's biggest equalities date for men (
#internationalmensday
). Hundreds of UK organisations and tens of thousands of people publicly supporting it. Noticeably
@EHRC
chose not to. Presume deliberate? I feel a public explanation is needed.

question that construction workers are still working because of donations to the Tories. Thing is, millions of people are watching these questions and despairing at their childishness.
Thank you to everyone for their kind words today - it is all for the
@ManKindInit
staff, fellow trustees, volunteers, donors, fundraisers, supporters and anyone who supports anyone who is a victim of domestic abuse of all genders.

Brilliant help from
@GeoffNorcott
. One charity bid to the National Lottery to set up a website doing exactly this for men but
@tnluk
@TNLComFund
turned them down and said the 'so-called' Men and Boys Health and Wellbeing sector did not exist. That is what we are up against.
I’ve been contacted by so many people doing great work around Men’s mental health & suicide locally.
If you’re having a tough time, google ‘mens mental health near me’ - you should find something reasonably nearby.
Tag anyone doing great work in the comments & I’ll give a shout
Hey
@Gillette
- this is the type of advert you should have produced about how great men are rather than the wretched anti-male one you produced earlier this year.

#BeTheBestAManCanBe
One man dies every 45 minutes from prostate cancer.
We think they're worth saving. Do you?
Share our new advert and stand with us in saying
#MenWeAreWithYou
Bizarre and dangerous trolling at its worst. Clearly libellous as well.
@ProfHine
has never said that - he has always been about safe contact and that clearly does not include rapists/abusive parents. Obviously written because Ben is highly credible and some don't like that.
@MayorofLondon
While Londoners face an increased cost of living you are personally imposing the

charge on working class families in outer London.

A life long ambition achieved yesterday - giving evidence at a Select Committee on behalf of
@ManKindInit
@MBCoalition
- at the
@Commonswomequ
inquiry into the Mental Health of Men and Boys! Great support and wise words from top guy
@mrmadrigal
as well!!
Really proud moment for us yesterday as it was the first time we have been able to speak up for male victims of domestic abuse at a Select Committee
@Commonswomequ
at their vitally important inquiry on the Mental Health of Men and Boys. Watch here:
#InternationalMensDay
was a huge success -- the day was marked with massive popular, positive support: 95k tweets, big support from the public, companies, charities, politicians & beyond.
Despite this,
@EHRC
@EHRCWales
@EHRCScotland
chose to ignore it.
They need to explain why.
This is hugely worrying. Just been to an excellent speech on male suicide by
@sajidjavid
@DHSCgovuk
@GillianKeegan
where the vital work of
@TheLionsBarbers
was referenced. Why are funders not stepping up? Very concerning - they need to.
Just had more funding applications fall through. Still a bit desperate here, if anyone knows of anyone who would like to help support
@TheLionsBarbers
or interested in our offerings please do get in touch.
Always intrigued by headlines like this by
@BBCNews
because I wonder if the fact that it was twice as many women had died due to alcohol and in record numbers, whether this would be in the headline and higher up in the editorial?
Great day supporting top man
@louie_french
on the campaign trail in Old Bexley and Sidcup. Met lots of great colleagues including
@kvmarthur
who came down from Yorkshire!
@NickFletcherMP
It is clear what
@NickFletcherMP
Nick Fletcher meant and this is it. Rather than looking for soundbites or taking things out context it would help if many of the keyboard warriors would read his whole speech and perhaps reflect on their views about men and boys wellbeing.
Great to start today with an interview on
@GMB
about increase in calls from male victims of domestic abuse during the pandemic. I was representing the charity I chair
@ManKindInit
. Good Morning Britain produced a great feature too:
Looking forward to chairing the Men's Health Programme on Day 1 of the annual Health and Wellbeing at Work conference. The first time there has been a such a programme which shows how important an issue it has become.

More very very serious questions need to be answered by

Pleased to see so many important recommendations from

on the mental health of men and boys. Proud to be quoted on the need for a National Men's Health Strategy - hope the new Government listens and agrees!

What about from August where working class families in Outer London will have to pay £12.50 to drive their cars unless they comply with your
#ULEZ
working class stealth tax. Feed their kids or pay Khan's
#ULEZ
tax. That is all down to you. Will you be tweeting that?
@SadiqKhan
Twice in a row that the plight of white working class boys in our education system has been raised in PMQs. It is time that we see serious thought, policy and action on this. It has been purposely ignored for far too long.
As many of you know I am part of the
#InternationalMensDay
team! There are lots of great events happening today and tomorrow plus you can get involved too. Lots of information, event lists, social media graphics/logos etc available on
VC wants to see the introduction of an ‘Ending Intimate Violence Against Men and Boys’ strategy in recognition that male victims need support too. What do you think?
#domesticabuse
#VAWG
@ManKindInit
Vitally important to listen to this and frightening in its impact on boys - the phrase
#ToxicMasculinity
demeans and damages all boys - and boys and girls are saying it - anyone using it should be ashamed of themselves
#OurBoysAsWell
Just noticed the Government Equalities Office has changed its Twitter handle to
@GEOgovuk
when previously it was
@womenEqualities
which clearly showed a non-inclusive approach (before then it was
@Govt_Equality
) - a new Govt now taking a more inclusive approach? - I hope so!
Thoughts with Sasha Attwood on this. What is also interesting is how counter-narrative it is because all the focus on healthy relationships and respect in schools is focussed on boys, when here it is teenage girls are the ones trolling her.
As I said on
@BBCSouthNews
yesterday - the Government
@luhc
has provided a lot of money to support to councils to provide safe accommodation for domestic abuse victims including men, so there can be no excuse for not doing so.
Really important to hold councils to account when it comes to failing to provide safe accommodation to male victims and their children. They have been given extra government money so no excuse. See clip here at start (disappears later):
How about
@mentalhealth
calling for the same for men and boys especially as they make up three of every four suicides? Why do organisations like this only care about half of the population?
#unconsciousbias
Looking forward to the 2 day Boys' Impact conference in Wolves.
@boys
Will be lots to take away on improving boys' education, challenges they face and what we can do. Will hugely help my policy work in getting the issue taken more seriously nationally.
Thank you to everyone who took part. It makes such a difference in helping other men realise they are not the only one in world this is happening to and it changes societal/public perception.

Very proud to have been part of the team that put this together. This decade has to be more inclusive where we provide far better support and focus on the wellbeing of men and boys - education, (mental) health, fatherhood, homelessnes, intimate violence and more.👇
A more inclusive decade: 10 policies to better support the well-being of men and boys in the UK.
We've asked Minister for Women and Equalities
@liztruss
via
@GEOgovUK
for 10 policy measures for the new Government to support men and boys.
Here they are:
Thank you to the all my Twitter friends who supported me and wished me luck (including those who are not Conservatives!). Sadly it was not to be once more. All the best, Mark
Pleased to have supported Alex Skeel today on
@bbc5live
and his call for more male victims of domestic abuse to come forward. We're all on your side!
@ManKindInit
Fascinating and saddening insight into institutional and media hypocrisy on how gender is redacted when men are the predominant victims (85% of rough sleepers are male). If it was the other way round gender would be the lead headline.
It is very concerning that
@EduPolicyInst
fail to acknowledge gender when it comes to disadvantage when boys are behind girls at every stage of education. Over 300k young men are unemployed is the outcome. How can we help them, when they are made invisible?

Great news
@trussliz
has taken a broader more inclusive and less divisive view of inequality given huge disparity in suicide rates, covid deaths, exam results, work deaths and rough sleeping stats between men and women.

I would like to pay tribute to my great friend Sir David Evennett MP. A true Conservative, a champion for our community and a great man. He has given so much to Bexleyheath and Crayford, our country and the Conservative Party. I wish him all the best for the future.
Please do support the great man
@andrewpain1974
- he is raising funds for the domestic abuse charity for men that I chair
@ManKindInit
. all funds raised are ringfenced by the trustees to go straight to running our helpline. Thank you!
20/07 ... I'm jumping out of a plane to support the work of Mankind Initiative, whose confidential helplines, assist over 2500 male victims of domestic abuse each year. Would be honoured if you felt able to sponsor me!
#domesticabuse
#DomesticViolence
A ‘doubling of domestic abuse victims’ may not be a surprise. But new figures detail the extent of how men are also victims. ‘Leon’ tells us what it’s like to suffer at the hands of a violent and abusive woman.
#VictoriaLIVE
Clearly the
@TfL
cyber attack is still ongoing / problem. But of course you can't expect that organisation or their mate
@MayorofLondon
to admit to it or tell you. Tried 5 times in 5 different locations to top up my Oyster and all you get is a blank screen below. Hopeless.
Thank you to Ben Bradley
@BBradley_Mans
for opening
#InternationalMensDay
debate in HoC today talking about suicide, boys education, prostate cancer and fatherhood. Ironic debate before was on online harms given the sad toxic and shameful abuse he is getting on Twitter.
On Thursday,
@BBCWorldatOne
covered male victims of domestic abuse and interviewed Tony alongside our Chair
@Belvederebrooks
- it was a very positive interview and allowed us to talk about the need for a more inclusive 21st century approach (starts 27.50).
It'd be very useful for
@CambPressAssess
and report author Matthew Carroll and Tim Oates to respond. Important to understand the thinking in how they turned their own research showing problems affecting young men into a narrative that the problem primarily affects young women.
This horrifying article is an astonishing, deeply depressing, downright shameful illustration of the challenges we still face in trying to get the educational establishment to understand & take seriously the national crisis in boys' educational underachievement. 1/6 🧵
I do like
@IainDale
- just read his weekly email and he is so spot on about the journalist questions and the fact they are not acting in the national interest. I agree they are so embarrassing, cringe and very low rent. My fab wife switches them off - very good judge!!
