In 2015 I was diagnosed w/ Ovarian Cancer stage 3C and BRCA. In 2020 it came back as Mets throughout thoracic lymph nodes. In March it came back as a brain tumor w/ MLS & multiple herniation locations. Today I went back to work as a clinical organ donor coordinator.

I have worked in a few hospitals that have a "No one dies alone" policy. It is such a powerful statement about care that the hospital does what it takes to find someone to be there in those situations. Nurses are not always able to be that for their patients. Thank you.

No one. We can't pursue organ donation on anyone under 4kg or 36 weeks gestation, and even then it happens at the request of the family in the event of a non-survivable birth defect, after birth. I have worked in organ donation for over 10 years and seen it happen twice.

On multiple occasions I've changed my orders to better align with pharmacist concerns. We always talk it out and either I provide my explanation and rationale for the order, or we find a compromise. I would never ask a pharmacist to act against their policies and FDA limitations.

I'm a 5th generation Iowan. My great great great grandfather used to walk from his farm to Fort Dodge (80 miles) twice a year to sell crops & buy supplies. My guacamole has: avocado, cilantro, tapatio, garlic, cumin, chili powder, & a little fresh lime juice. Some of us are ok!

I get infusions every 3 weeks for 2 years to try and stop another recurrence. On infusion days, I wear onesie pajamas for the amusement of myself and others. Today I walked into Chao Cancer Center literally looking like death because cancer can f*ck all the way off.

If it helps, my GYN ONC told me at diagnosis that ovarian doesn't grow all that fast, it's just hard to recognize the signs. The most important thing is to find it. You are officially in process, May your wait be short for chemo!

Do you know the organization Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep? It is a national group of volunteer photographers that are on call to come take photos in the event of still born or neonate loss. They touch up the photos and make an album of baby pictures for the grieving parents.
