I think what makes me sad is people are calling my daughter spoiled because she asked for a fruit and I bought it for her… a very simple, easy, reasonable ask.. like do these people never try to give their kids small things they would like? That’s so sad… honestly..

my kid loves cupcakes and hates most other foods (won’t even try it) so tonight I baked dinner in a cupcake tin and he’s eating it because he thinks it’s cupcakes and this is a huge win in my book

In reality she is the sweetest little girl. She’s helpful, kind, compassionate and loving! And I think the relationship I’ve built with her has fostered those qualities a little bit (although, at her core I think it’s who she is)

We went to a birthday party this weekend- Miller was the only little boy and he is so outgoing and fun, but one of the moms said he was “a lot” and I haven’t stopped thinking about it. In the moment I brushed it aside but now I’m mad. (To add, he was behaving fine, just chatty)

had my twins MS4, no maternity leave (used my month of “vacation” in the NICU)- so challenging.. and residency will prove no different but man, their giggles, smiles, cuddles heal parts of me I didn’t even know needed healing ❤️🫶🏼
I became a mom in med school, & many people told me I shouldn't do it.
To anyone being told they have to put their parenting plans on hold until training is done, don't listen. This narrative is not helpful. We need more representation of parents in training & more support.

I cannot stress how important it is having a supportive partner in medical training- I just got off my shift and he had a note on the fridge saying to check the freezer, with a McFlurry waiting for me - little things that make a big difference!

Wasn’t the person in question an ophthalmology resident? Historically that would not be considered an overly taxing residency in comparison to other specialities. Perhaps this was more of a personal mental health issue than an environmental one.

After the last year or so I’ve had- twin pregnancy full of complications, switching specialities late in the game, birth and long NICU stay, kids cares/needs, breastfeeding, keeping up with school- I’m really proud of myself 🥹🤍 crazy I get to be an anesthesiologist!!!!

shoutout to my co-residents who without a hesitation offered to take my patients for the morning so I could go be with my kid while he was in the ER, and then proceeded to text me and check in and even offered to bring me dinner.. I love this place and these people 🤍

we had nothing going on that would prevent us from being able to go get some peaches so why not say yes to your kid sometimes.. obviously if we couldn’t make it happen she’d have to wait, but sometimes you can give your kids what they want. Hope this helps!

The nice thing about not making medical school my ENTIRE life is that if tomorrow doesn’t go well (🤞) I don’t lose everything. Outside of medicine, I’m still me. I’m still a mom. I’m still a wife. A friend. A daughter. And while that would be not ideal, I know I’d get through!
