We’ve caught patients being coerced into sex post delivery IN the hospital. I say coerced because there’s no way you just delivered vaginally or via c/s and want to do ANY strenuous activity like that. Peeing hurts. Standing hurts.
babies change the dynamic of a relationship and i need people to think about that. for example, after you give birth, you and your partner are essentially forced into penetrative celibacy for 6 weeks. that’s something you need to talk to your partner about. it seems silly but

On day one of my job, I helped make sure mom had what I would say a safe and informed birth. When baby needed deep suctioning I kept mom updated. I had dad take pictures so I could bring the phone to mom. In school I saw so much obstetric trauma. I won’t contribute to that!
