As someone who’s husband works in a California supermax, Norwegian prisons are the way to go. They treat everyone with dignity, help them make a ‘reentry plan’ and assign them a caseworker. They come out a benefit to their families and society and have about 1/3 the recidivism.👍🏻

Yes! My kids all got either strep or flu about 16 years ago, & daughter became diabetic. She has never tested Covid positive, but last year her appendix died, got infected, & she waited 6 months for surgery. Now she also has POTS. (Another son got T1 diabetes after strep, too!)

Same. Diagnosed at 44 (also OCD/ADHD), but it wasn’t even on my radar. Autism never occurred to me due to a lifetime of debilitating empathy; it seemed to go against the ‘common knowledge’ about ASD re empathy. So much new and better info out there now! ❤️

The hospital bill for my first baby, before insurance paid, was over $100,000. We paid about $3K. When my 10 month-old had to be flown to the nearest major hospital for 10 days, the insurance ended up paying over HALF A MILLION DOLLARS; it took years to pay our portion.
Just got the bill from my hospitalization for childbirth and I'm thrilled it was *only* $800 which is a sad statement regarding US healthcare.

I’m so sorry! I was on an NG tube for several weeks & even crappy food commercials were agony. Now I have celiac (plus other dumb stuff) so I can’t eat fruit, dairy, eggs, wheat - &ARFID means I can’t eat anything but one safe meal. Folks, there are so many of us out here! 😩❤️

Same same same! I always thought it was courteous, but then was told quite forcefully in college that it made me sound ‘stupid, like I don’t even have confidence in my own ideas’…and I was like, “Well, yeah. I don’t. They’re just ideas. I can have 10 more weird ones right now.”

It’s always, “I’d better check the stove” and not, “I’d better mentally run through all my relationships and make sure there’s nothing anyone expects of me, or anyone I will let down if I am not *constantly vigilant*”
