In 1934 30mph speed limits were introduced. These were the cars on the roads, boxy, with skinny crossply tyres and drum brakes. Modern cars have amazing wide radial tyres, disc brakes and ABS and are designed with pedestrian safety in mind. Why do we need 20mph limits?

As we're so often reminded, most cyclists also drive. Let's extend the points system so any cyclist commiting an offence that would get points and a fine if they were driving get the same points on their licences and fine if they happen to be cycling.

A pair of cyclists, riding 2 abreast along a country road. What is an acceptable number of vehicles behind them, unable to overtake safely giving the 1.5 metres, before the highway code rule 169 to pull over and allow faster vehicles pass comes into play? 10, 15, 20 .......

Dear Cyclists If you want drivers to give you 1.5 metres when passing at least have the manners to use the adjacent cycle paths where provided. Riding alongside an empty cycle path with a queue of cars behind waiting to pass safely makes you look like an entitled cvnt. Thank you
