@HackneyAbbott
That's a disgraceful tweet Diane, given that at the time of the tweet you knew that, in aditional to placing the NHS under additional pressure by ignoring preventatve SD measures, some protestors were being violent towards police officers and police horses.
Not so keen on the new
@skynews
set up. Feels even more like the London political elite & their posh mates talking about their London political elite mates. Bring back
@MartinDaubney
@LizKershawDJ
and other angry northerners who have lived a bit outside the Westminster bubble
@caitlinmoran
I once activated the town nuclear attack sirens while doing the early Sunday morning system test. Only lasted 30 seconds and triggered a flurry of calls from people I convinced were dreaming.
@lspark89
Everything I hear makes me more angry. God knows what it was like to live through it. This should be a watershed not just for PO but for corporate governance, privatisation and how we monitor MCOJ.
@clementine_ford
Clementine, is this a similar joke to: 'Honestly, the corona virus isn't killing black people fast enough' or 'Honestly, the corona virus isn't killing disabled people fast enough'or 'Honestly, the corona virus isn't killing health care workers fast enough'?
@piersmorgan
He's a father, grandfather and great grandfather. That is enough, regardless of how I may feel about the RF, for me to wish him well.
I am disappointed that people feel the need to express such negativity about a man in his final years. Shame.
@hijakejohnstone
@Rhammified
I dropped coins into the cup of man sat on floor at Kings Cross, only to find it was a city gent sat on his mobile and I ruined his latte.
@ScottishNorse
@laurabolton_xo
It's not (in the words of Boris) just spazzing against the wall for a woman. The process is medically very different, not without risk, and the sharing of a limited egg pool. Please, this is lovely news for Laura and for the couple, don't be a public twat Brian.
You don't need to scratch far below the Twitter surface to see why we need Stephen Lawrence Day today. Not just in memory of him, but as a warning to us all to be vigilant, as the racism which murdered him is still thriving 30 years on.
Fourty years ago today I was a new father. Today my daughter Ami is spending her 40th B'day, living away from her family and running an ITU for the people of Wales. Very proud of you
@JonesTheBosher
. Stay safe and thanks to
@Hannah_Jewell
for taking the strain back at home.
My Offer. I will bias test EVERY police officer in the UK and all
@CollegeofPolice
staff for Ethniicty bias, and provide them with feedback, without charge.
100,000 tests are waiting for
@PoliceChiefs
@NPCCRaceReligon
to co-ordinate.
HR manager berated a new recruit for being late on his first day, in front of other recruits, terminating his contract and sending him home. Sadly he went home & tried to take his own life. If you check the text he was sent, he was on time.
HR isn't the right place for you.
@SuellaBraverman
LIke politcally elected/appointed PCCs having their pictures taken with operational cops for social media and election leaflets? And interfering with operational decisions while simultaneously failing in their diversity duties under the PR&SR Act?
Many moons ago a beat officer arrived in custody with a shoplifter. 19 minutes later they left; searched, booked in, interviewed, fingerprinted/photo/CRO, charge and bail. Beat officer could do 3 or 4 store theft arrests a day.
How long does a simple shoplifter take now?
This book is an absolute revelation about the reality of how our Parliament functions. Have not got to the 'how to fix it' bit yet, but it clearly needs fixing and soon.
@RhonddaBryant

@policescotland
Might be a good time to withdraw this Tweet now it is clear as to the true meaning. We all make occasionally mistakes or speak without knowing the full facts, but once we know, it is rude not to correct the misunderstanding and apologise.
@rupert_pearse
When we stop believing the likes of Rupert at the sharp end of this pandemic, & start believing John from somewhere in Idiotville we will be truly doomed (says me a 60 year old man with diabetes/asthma who has just ridden 20 miles without breaking sweat but knows CV may kill me)
@kirkkorner
Some years ago I was given an arrest warrant for an elderly woman living alone for NPTVL. I sent it back saying I wasn't prepared to execute it. Prosecutions weren't happy but I later got a note from the Chair of Mags thanking me. If only common sense were common.
Hattie McDaniel, first black woman to win an Oscar in 1939, but wasn't allowed to sit on the cast table at the Oscars, had to sit at the back. Later won a legal case to prevent the good white folk of LA who tried to stop her living in a 'white neighbourhood. Just 75 yrs ago
I may come across as obsessed with representation based on Ethnicity in policing. Reason: It's not just the right thing to do, it would make cops' jobs so much easier and the service policing offers so much better. It's not some PC nonsense , it's the only way forward.
@George_Osborne
@angelasmithmp
I am one of the potential beneficiaries of HS2 (regular travel to London). And I think it is a seriously flawed vanity project with a poor busines scase that doesn't reflect the needs of the north or how work may look in 20 years.
@Sab_CohenHatton
My daughter is in a similar position, left her son and wife UFN. Her wife is also looking after the daughter of another ITU consultant and Dr to get two more Drs to the sharp end. And all we have to do, is stay at home.
Reading a post on the police recruit forum. Shocked to see new recruits are taking home just £1440 a month. Rent, travel, food, utilities.
How did this happen?
@martsarge
@RamblingNewbie
Alll the guy is doing is what we used to do in the bar after a late shift; having a moan to let off steam. That doesn't make him/her unsuitable for policing. Last thng they need at this point is a shove over the cliff. The demands in 2022 are way beyond what most of us had
Any interest if I ran a coupe of short (les sthan one hour) webinars on Unconscious Bias in Recruiting? Some really interesting new studies out which may help unpick meritocracy myth.
@EssexPoliceUK
Interesting that the people who know modern policing love this advert, and those with no insight or out of date insight hate it. If you know the Peel principles of policing, this advert hits the mark.
@KayBurley
Consultants have often spent 20 years in almost full time learning and education, while doing shifts. Take off 40% tax, NI, pensions.
Yes they do. More so than the 37% MPs have had since 2010.
And so do cops, teachers and nurses BTW.
@DeanMunsey
@DavidLammy
Obvs Dean holds you personally responsible for the behaviour of every black person David ! I am quaking in my boots as somebody actually died at Leeds festival, and I am a white guy living just down the road. Best I pack a toothbrush ready for the knock on my door.
Zoom account cancelled. Redundancy cheque cashed. Final salary paid. Company car being valued. Final accounts being drawn up.
Werther's Originals ordered.
Retirement is now very real.
@DavidLammy
It would have been way easier to pay everyone in work, & paying tax at the basic rate, £1,500 a month. All this waiting to June, 3 years of accounts & 80% is typical HMRC complication and treacle. I suspect many self employed will carry on working when really they shouldnt.
The more I see the amazing response to covid from scientists and the NHS, the more I am in awe. If we dont see an honours list packed with micro-biologists, logistics managers, researchers, hospital staff and GPs staff we are mugs.
Is anybody looking at the number of police officers killed or injured in RTCs when coming off shift?
@K_QureshiMPS
@PFEW_Chair
@CollegeofPolice
@PolScotCollege
. I have noticed a number of memorial posts on Twitter which are worrying. What might it tell us about shift patterns?
Bit of a departure but I have located a children's author and an illustrator to write books for girls aged 9-11 to spark a STEMM interest. they are looking for sponsors and support to get the books written and on shelves.
@nazirafzal
@Telegraph
Family: "I thought a normal thing to do would be to apologise and lay low." I agree. Like the family need some pity party from the person who killed their son.
Finally got FOI result on Police One-Day Police recruit centre. Pass rate White candidates 73.7%. Pass rates BAME 47.7%. Massive adverse impact. Detail to follow.
@DeanMunsey
@DavidLammy
I do follow him. He isn't the parent of every young black person in London ( as far as I know). If he could 'lighten up' he probably wouldn't face this kind of tripe, if you get my meaning?
Congratulations to our interim National Director Dr Ami Jones (

@metpoliceuk
I spent 2 years freezing my ******** off on permanent 24/7 foot patrol.
I spent 12 months soaking on a bike as my only means of getting to jobs.
At the time it was almost too much, but now I realise it was an absolute bloody privilige.
@KarenFindlayMPS
Agree Karen, there is a problem but reassuring policing is dealing with it promptly, better than others:
Same day, Paramedic struck off for sexual harasment and Doctor for sexual assault. Media?
Another MP suspended for drugs and harassment (how many is that now from 650?).
I have no idea how I used to get up at 4.15am for the early train, to be across London for 9am, work all day and get the 6.50pm back. And repeat. Now I can't even get up in time for the post.
Our world is made up of givers and takers.
The Takers have had their time, the Givers deserve better,
Nurses, police officers, doctors, soldiers, teachers and council workers are what hold this country together, not the VCs, hedge fund managers and politicians.
Enough.
This morning my brother will scatter my Mum's ashes at her Mum's and her grandmother's graves. Covid has prevented this for over a year, and will prevent me being there. If you still have your Mum, cherish her. If not, remember her with love today.

@CamillaTominey
I suspect Megan has been a bit naive to think she might escape the bigotry of the US by coming to the UK, where in truth we have our special own breed of polite bigot who ride horses and use the right knife, but truly festers with anxiety that the game may be up.
@ghq2001
Bit of physics: velocity x mass = momentum.
Kerb weight of an Austin Seven in 1934 was 425kg.
Modern Ford Focus weighs 1380kg.
20MPH is 8.94 mps
30mph is 13.41 mps
Should really be 10MPH.
@GoodLawProject
Interesting all the 'new' Luxe Care companies companies were dissolved before accounts were submitted, or have overdue accounts. Worth looking at Higton Associates accounts 2018-2022 Accounts overdue too.
@EveAinsworth
I had a law firm who 'took a chance' on a scouse woman with tattoos. She blew them away and was quickly poached by one of their clients. Imagine the talent we miss by the fit of schools, accents, hobbies, holiday destinations, interests, dress and preference for wine.
@vernalscott
Ask the public to name the officers awarded the George Medal by the Queen for their actions at London Bridge less than 5 years ago. We need to keep reminding them what risks police officers take for them
@MPSLadyMargaret
Tells us all we need to know about how the wider CJ system views and treats police officers doing the really hard miles, while they drink coffee and eat biscuits.
The judiciary should be shamed.
@susannareid100
@maitlis
Flippin heck, make this media myopia end. What about track and trace, 2nd spike, new drugs, PPE, relaxing lockdown, vaccines, demands on NHS staff etc? Cummings can't kill or save me, but these other issues can.
@Nadine_Writes
Given; ‘We accept that those allegations are wholly unfounded and untrue' I wonder what happened to Brendan McGrath? I know he resigned as Union Preident and survived an impeacement vote as librarian. Google isn't helping but I am checking the Board of Trade membership list.
@DerbysPCC
@DCCRachelSwann
@DerbysPolice
@hardyaldhindsa
The positive views of cops who have worked with Rachel and for her, suggest this is a great appointment. Pity she has to face this tripe on what should be the pinnacle of a career. I don't see blokes face this , which says all we need to know about the anon. trolls. Cowards.
@NorthantsChief
I was a beat officer on a large estate with a 'station'.
I used it once or twice a year. The local streets & footpaths, community centre, schools & health centre seemed a much better place to spend time.
Sitting in a building with grills on the windows didnt do it for anyone.
No idea why policing takes 3 years to train a PC, when they could just watch some Netflix docs and dramas, and be experts in all things policing within 2 weeks (or 2 days if they binge watch Happy Valley).
@LizKershawDJ
Wiki: The Henry Jackson Society is a trans-Atlantic foreign policy and national security think tank, based in the United Kingdom. While describing itself as non-partisan, its outlook has been described variously as "right-wing", neoliberal and as neoconservative.
@davidwalliams
As a man to a man, up your game mate. The clue was in the invitation & the reputation of this event (the FT didnt do expose randomly). I turn down jobs which run counter to my values, esp when I would punch the lights out of any man who treated my daughter or wife like that
If my name were Chip I'd open a chip shop called Chip's.
When the inevitable apostrophe pedants came in to preach or complain I'd teach them a valuable lesson about assumptions.
@DLGDen
I agree, and the police are getting Zero %. Seems it is a divide and conquer strategy based on who has the least power or probability to take action, and who they can push around the most as a result.

I have spent 22 years as a police officer and another 22 as a psychologist working around the development and mitigation of prejudice and discrimination. To learn what most litle Black and Brown children learn before they leave primary school: to smell racism and racists.
Another letter of condolence to the widow of an ex police colleague this evening. Another who worked beyond his sell-by date and had a short retirement. Folks, do your bit then get out. Don't hang it out, you only have one life and no amount of money or rank get buy it back.
@RMCunliffe
I will be honest, my own wardrobe has some similar leg coverings, plus pale blue and pale green. I just never go anywhere to wear them as in Yorkshire such attire would lead to stoning in the street and massive ridicule at home.
Sadly my Mum is no longer with us this Christmas, but I pinged her present to her local foodbank. She would have loved that, as I always ended up buying her the wrong thing! Happy Christmas Mum.
@paullewismoney
I took out my heat pump and returned to oil. Not only do the suppliers and installers not understand the product, specifications and install it badly, but the marketplace is full of chancers, casual liars and get rich quickers.
And they are not too good when it drops below zero
Casey:
largest number of internal grievances and Employment Tribunals in the Met relate to Disability discrimination. Barely got a mention in the media.
@sharrond62
Agreed Sharron.
Whatever and however strong our opinions, parking them up for one day in 70 years for simple compassion shouldn't be too great an ask.
If it is too much, then I do truly feel sorry for them.
In our Race bias testing across sectors since 2009 the NHS and Policing consistently return the lowest proportions of staff with a Race bias affecting behaviour and decisions (NHS 17%, Policing 19%). This comparees to Law Firms ( 31%), Financial Services (29%) and Academics (34%)
Today we say farewell to my dear Mum. I am philosophical: she lived a long life, was loved and cared for always. As my daughter said, she left this life as she lived it, with her independence and with dignity.
I was reminded today of the evaluation of the DE Supt scheme: The cost was £3.57m for five years of operation (2014/19) for 33 places (without the Supts wages). Recruited 3 BAME Supts and heralded as a success for diversity.
PC is stabbed in London, SPC dies in West Mids. Why am I having to look at local news and my police network to find this? Less important than Amber Turd and eyebrow tints it seems.
@BBCNews
And this folks is why we can't have nice things. Because we continue to elect racists, and then when they show their true colours, we let them get away with an a half arsed apology about 'causing offence'.
I am looking for police forces who may wish to pilot my new White-Black man Stop Search Bias test without cost. Need a sample of response officers. I also need a decent sized cohort(s) of recruits to take my White-Black man at the start and end of training. RT and DM me.
