This driver was 1 of 83 I reported last year for closing passing a cyclist, for the sake of trying to save a couple of seconds it cost him £100 for a SCD course and damage to his van.
A man is cycling north towards the North Circular in Walthamstow, completely ignores the cycle lane.
The driver awards him "bell end of the year award."
To those who think people caught on camera by cyclists only use their phones while stationary…this is the reality. “Instagram was on her screen at 8:12am, just 11 seconds before she called 000”
It’s time to introduce this in England.
Scotland becomes the first UK nation to introduce a ban on pavement parking next week. From Monday (11 December 2023), drivers in Scotland can be fined £100 for parking on the footway.
.
Anyone commenting this was an accident or the cyclist was in anyway at fault has just admitted on a public forum that they are unfit to drive a motor vehicle.
#OpTriton
| This is the horrifying moment a cyclist was sent spinning into the air when she was hit by a driver who pulled out in front of her.
The cyclist, 71, suffered a bleed on the brain and broken bones.
The driver's now been jailed.

My mate who I started mountain biking with when we bought MTBs in 1988 died this evening after a short illness, the way he rode it’s a miracle he lived into his seventies!
So glad we shared a few trails together this summer.
An experiment, in a slow moving traffic queue during school run, out of approx 15 cars 5 drivers were using phones hand held, 2 managed to hide them as I approached.
1 just waved at me, 1 took my photo and another just asked “what’s up pal?”
Phone use while driving is endemic.
Non cyclists have been telling me for sometime how to be safer riding my bike most often I’m told I should wear a helmet.
Personally I think mandatory cameras on bicycles would have a greater impact on rider safety after all look how drivers behave around speed cameras.
@Thenorthernlad7
@MikeyCycling
As a keen driver, the driver was 100% at fault.
As an avid cyclist, I would have expected the driver to do exactly what they did.
@ScouseboySteve
It’s a pity they didn’t spend “millions” on the section where cyclists need a cycle path the most…a busy junction followed by multi lane roundabout.
My heart bleeds!
Another member of the luxury SUV community, who says she is unable to drive her child to school now that insurance for her £56,000 Range Rover Velar has risen to £890 a month, accused the car’s makers of “destroying lives”
First driver I’ve reported for using a hand held phone while driving, he was spending more time looking at his lap than the road in busy traffic I just couldn’t ignore it.
Notice of Intended Prosecution on its way.
3 more drivers will be receiving a Notice of Intended Prosecution for close passing a cyclist.
This generally results in a £100 Educational Course or 3 points and a fine.
Someone did an interesting FOI request to West Yorks Police it appears motorists are the biggest "Grass" but cyclists are the better judge of what actually constitutes a driving offence. It doesn't include educational courses.
@theJeremyVine
@MikeyCycling
Why is it that cyclists who don’t obey the rules give other cyclists a bad reputation but drivers who break the rules and kill & injure people on a regular basis don’t give other drivers a bad reputation?
@GMB
Being a cyclist and a driver, I have respect for drivers on the road, unfortunately there are far to many cyclists who do not obey the rules of the road giving other cyclists a bad reputation
More bullshit.
Cycling to work is cheap and fun you just need bike, lights, air horn, HiViz, GoreTex, Gravel bike for unswept cycle lanes, body armour, helmet, 360° camera, night vision goggles & now fucking radar!
How about cars with engines that cut out in proximity to bikes
When the gammon cry baby drivers are bleating about cyclists not following the Highway Code, not sitting in traffic queues, not paying road tax, not paying insurance, not paying fuel duty etc do they not realise these are the advantages of travelling by bicycle? 😂😂😂
A Notice of Intended Prosecution on its way to this driver for close passing a cyclist which is Driving without consideration for other road users, their impatience will cost them a minimum of £100 Educational Course or a fine and 3 points on their licence.
Since my Dad died in August I haven’t felt upset or cried I’ve just felt an overwhelming feeling of relief that I don’t have to watch him deteriorate further with dementia.
Is this normal? Whatever normal is.
With the UK to introduce new offence of causing death or injury by dangerous cycling I recommend that all cyclists now run a camera as it will be your best defence should the worst happen.
Reasons people have told me why they drive one:
It snows
I live in the country
I live at the bottom of a hill
I carry stuff
I like the high up driving position
My kids are safer
Real reasons:
Ego
Fashion
Keeping up with next door
A Skoda Octavia is a large, family vehicle with ample room!
Yet despite being a large car it is significantly smaller than an SUV
It's gaslighting that you need an SUV if you have a family
“Car collides with house” “car kills cyclists” “car hits pedestrian” “car loses control” but when cute ducklings are the victim it’s the drivers fault?
Another BMW driver that will be shortly receiving a Notice of Intended Prosecution for close passing of a cyclist which will cost him a £100 Course or 3 points and a fine just so he could reach the traffic queue 5 seconds sooner.
So glad I got to ride with my Dad last summer while he still could, he died this morning peacefully.
If you know someone with dementia have fun with them today because there may not be another chance.
To all the football fan lovers of dangerous drivers who tell me to “get a life” when they see I’ve reported another driver for close passing a cyclist today I was living my best life.
We need to abolish exceptional hardship, 12 points is enough slaps on the wrist. If you haven’t learned to drive safely, legally and considerately by that point then you are a danger to the rest of society.
⚖️Court Result⚖️
Guilty, but no ban for using his phone.
This despite accruing 12 or more points.
To ban him would have caused "exceptional hardship".
#AO17XMH
We said goodbye to my mate Frank today, you couldn’t wish for a better bloke go ride the hills with.
To celebrate his life and love of bikes post a photo of your MTB or road bike cos he loved nothing better than to flick through a bike catalogue or wander round the LBS.
Well tonight I actually met someone who really does own the road (allegedly) Ms Angry (Grr) didn't like me touching her car and doesn't have to move over "because I own the fuckin road"
Huge and lethal American pick-up trucks are now a regular sight on city streets in Europe. But they don't meet EU safety standards and are not tested for pedestrian safety. How is this possible? The answer lies in the mysterious world of Individual Vehicle Approval. Thread...
If your livelihood depends on having a driving licence probably not a good idea to use a handheld phone while driving.
Cyclists with cameras we can’t be everywhere but we can be anywhere.
When you’ve got the white render and grey plague house, the block paved driveway, the white poverty model Range Rover finish off your plastic grass back yard with a GeoDomeX to insulate you from all that nasty fresh air.
People who's livelihood requires them to hold a valid driving licence really should drive in a safe and considerate manner.
Driving in this manner is not a good advert for your employer.
A Notice of Intended Prosecution will be on its way to this driver for close passing a cyclist which will cost them 3 points & a fine or a £100 Course all for the sake of 2 secounds while I turned right.
Yesterday watching the way drivers instantly modify their behaviour around speed cameras made me think we should spread the rumour that all cyclists run cameras.
One of the these EVs we are so frightened of it’s illegal to use on our roads the other will weigh 3 tons have a 0-60mph of 2.9 seconds a top speed of 130mph and you can order today and drive the day you pass your driving test!
This caught me off guard yesterday I saw White Van Mans mate frantically winding down the window as he passed At the lights he bellowed "Thats a lovely bike my mates got one but not as nice as that!" there was me already planning how to defend myself with a preemptive strike!!!
Notice of Intended Prosecution on its way to this driver for driving without consideration for other road users for close passing a cyclist.
This will cost them £100 for an Educational Course if no previous convictions or 3 points & a fine if they have.
Followed these for a mile, is there any wonder motorists get pissed off with cyclists, anyone would think they own the whole road, unfortunately with latest rules they do.
If you’re a driver and going to close pass a cyclist you better make sure your car has a valid MOT.
Close passing a cyclist results in a £100 Educational Course or 3 points and a fine.
Driving without MOT you can be fined up to £1000.
For close passing a cyclist running a camera the driver of this Mercedes will be recieving a a Notice of Intended Prosecution for driving without consideration for other road users this will result in a Educational Course, 3 points & fine or a court appearance.
Let’s be clear this cyclist has put themselves in a dangerous position filtering past the HGV and needs to take more care.
The difference between most cyclist errors and drivers errors is that the cyclist endangers themselves whereas drivers often endanger other road users.
Yes, this highlights the need for proper segregated lanes but gosh, had my heart in my mouth with this one. This is how cyclists get killed, it’s not worth your life going for that gap. 🫣
Rise in dashcam submissions leads to more dangerous drivers being caught.
The number of reports filed in 2023 increased by 30%.
About 70% of the submissions lead to police action, ranging from warning letters to penalty points and prosecution.
One for the Twitter cycling mansplainers flat pedals n trainers, not taking the lane, no helmet and even the wrong ponytail…my other half says fuck em!
Streatham High Rd today at 16.00
It used to take me 10 mins on a 1.9mile journey to my piano students at this time. Today it took me 40 mins. Thank you

Nice result on his first commute with a camera: Close passing van driver banned for 12 months and ordered to pay over £700 in costs after narrowly missing cyclist and oncoming motorist.
Because we don’t have separate infrastructure for cycling.
Because many drivers don’t drive considerately around people on bicycles.
Because we don’t have secure bike parking.
Because we don’t make it easy to take bikes on trains and buses.
Drivers, if your job requires you to hold a drivers licence it's not a good idea to close pass a cyclist running a camera in your employers vehicle. Notice of Intended Prosecution on it's way to the owner/driver of this bus.
I wonder what the rush was as it's not in service?
Drivers commenting on a post about a cyclist reporting dangerous driving
“Grass” “Snitch”
Driver finds a tiny scratch on the car in car park
“Has anyone got any CCTV footage?” “Did anyone see the scum who scratched my car?”
84 drivers I reported this year received a Notice of Intended Prosecution for close passing a cyclist + 1 driver for using a handheld phone.
This dangerous overtaking in 2022 by a Range Rover driver resulted in a Safe and Considerate Driving (SCD) course
The questions and comments at the bottom of this solicitor’s page from drivers who’ve received a Notice of Intended Prosecution for close passing a cyclist are priceless.
Two more drivers this week will be receiving a Notice of Intended Prosecution for close passing a cyclist, this will result in either a £100 Educational Course, 3 points and fine or a they can opt to go to court for driving without consideration for other road users.
Another hard working driver who will be either paying for a Safe and Considerate Driver course or receiving 3 points and a fine for close passing cyclists.
@Bikery1966
Surely even a fanatic like yourself realises that pedalling, often at high speed and/or while riding monstrous cargo bikes, in the midst of people walking or driving, while consciously seeking to remain oblivious to one's surroundings is dangerous and antisocial ?
The driver of this Kia Sportage will be recieving a Notice of Intended Prosecution for close passing a cyclist. For the sake of waiting a couple of seconds it will cost them £100 for and Educational Course or 3 points and fine.
As a keen driver myself I would have braked without using the horn and carried on with my journey and the cyclist wouldn’t have felt the need to give me any gesture.
Cyclist riding at 20 mph in 20 limit, is it OK to overtake them so you can sit at the red traffic lights 2 seconds longer?
Asking for a Volkswagen Polo driver.
Friday means bike bus! Great to be back in the saddle this week. Sadly we experienced some reckless and scary driving today, we are all fine, but we really need a safe way to get our kids to school on their bikes! 🚲🛴
Traffic total standstill 4 lanes Park Lane.
Personally not known anything like this.
