We are aware that a photo was tweeted in error yesterday regarding the distance that should be given to cyclists whilst overtaking
Apologies. The correct distance is at least 1.5 metres (150cm) as this photo shows

Drivers: "Cyclists are dangerous as they're always riding on the pavement."
Also drivers: "He's doing a very difficult job. Where is he supposed to park?"
Driving a van along the pavement, forcing pedestrians out of the way and parks on the wrong side of the bus stop.

This is not an isolated incident.
This should be standard on al pedestrians crossings now.
Drivers are more scared of damaged paintwork, or smashed glass, than they are of hitting pedestrians.
Cyclists fault. If it wasn't for the driver having to give at least 1.5m of space, this would never have happened.
They probably fled the scene too, as they aren't accountable.
Road tax would stop this happening.

D'ya know what pisses off drivers more than a cyclist going through a red light?
It's a cyclists that doesn't go through a red light, then carefully pulls away when it turns to green.
That really pisses some drivers off.
Try it and see.
Police unsure if driver’s “lack of vision” or hi-vis and no helmet to blame for “unavoidable” collision that saw motorist pull out and kill cyclist, inquest finds
The motorist claims she wasn’t aware of two cyclists approaching until she heard the impact
Someone has a death wish!
Can never understand people cycling at night without lights. They're so cheap now, you could buy 2 decent sets and have change from a 20.
Don't park on the footpath or you'll push vulnerable pedestrians into traffic.
Disgraceful to see this behaviour. It's rush hour and everyone should get home safely.
Saw this from the bus just now and I'm furious.

@DubCityCouncil
I think sometimes some people need reminding that cyclists are people. They're mums, dads, sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, best mates, work colleagues, etc
They're not deliberately holding you up. They're going to work, shops, friends, doctors, etc
Just be patient and caring
Right let’s try again as my last post got very nasty. Underneath this helmet is a person, many of us in our day jobs work in emergency services, serve you in shops, cook for you. Please be kind if you see us out and about, give us a wide berth when you pass.

I've seen it all now.
Police speed camera van parked up near where a small child from the local infants school was hit by a driver last year.
Just round the corner is a guy on a nice Trek bike, with a large sign warning the speeding drivers 🤦
When cyclists film & "grass" on motorists on their phones. This is why. This is what happens when people think their phone is more important than concentrating on the job in hand.
Driving isn't difficult, as long as you concentrate & stick to the rules.
The motorist who killed Martyn has been jailed for 4.5 years. She waited until the start of the trial to plead guilty. Nothing will bring him back. His friend James continues to live with life-changing injuries. Put your phone away when driving. 🖤🔱💛
No way to get by on the pavement, so you have to walk on the road to get round it! 🙄
Odd that it's a Merc too. Most unlike them to be left like this.
@YPLAC
Unpopular opinion 😬🫣
I find cyclists who make all the traffic behind them travel for miles and miles at 15 mph incredibly selfish. Sat in a line of more than a dozen cars, vans, buses etc behind a lone cyclist out on a casual and very slow ride for miles on a main road 🤦♀️
Twitter: "Cyclists go too slow and cause all sorts of traffic congestion."
Also twitter: "These cyclists should be charged with furious cycling. They all go too fast, don't care and can't be held accountable."
Cyclists, please be mindful of your speeds and just how this will effect you in the event of a collision. This group today on Dartmoor observed travelling at near 40mph on a 30mph restricted road. All stopped and offered appropriate words of advice 🚴♀️ 🚴♀️ 7163 &

This is the best thing I've found to keep me safe on the roads. A very visible rear facing camera.
It doesn't stop every idiot, but it works on most of them.
Some passes are so wide they make me laugh!
Selfish deliberately holding up faster road users. Don't they realise we have places to be. We can't hang around listening to TalkShite and playing on our phones.
Only a few days to go on this petition, and it's already up to nearly 350 signatures.
Only another 9,651 signatures before the usual "thanks, but no thanks" response.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
As I'm not going on a bike ride today, thought I'd upgrade this £25 iPod classic I bought last week.
New battery going in. Also removing the 80gb HDD and fitting a 256gb flash drive in its place 👍

Here's a photo of my youngest daughter, riding her bike on the road. She was riding on the road before her 3rd birthday. She's now 10 and loves riding her bike, and has better road sense than a lot of adults.
@theJeremyVine
Yes it was unavoidable. Cyclists are hated universally because of people with the attitude you have. Have a bit of common sense, wear helmets, keep out of cars and larger vehicles ways on roads, kept right into the kerb as close as possible and you won’t get hurt.
@MGIFOTB
For the safety of all, there needs to be a 10 mph cyclist speed limit set for cycle lanes. Also where a cycle lane exists, it should be made mandatory that cyclists use it. The amount of cyclists I see on the road when there is a cycle lane right next to it. Finally that is a
Why do some drivers pass you and then immediately park themselves in the ASL box, so you can't fit in it?
Do they honestly think I won't just go a bit further, put myself in the middle of the lane, set off slowly and really struggle to clip in, slowing me down more? 🤷
Interesting.
I need to spend some more time reading this study, but a quick skim read of it certainly goes against what a few noisy people on here say.
Sat in a nice little cafe in Mallorca, and got chatting to a couple from Stockport.
Wife: "so how far are you riding today? There's some beautiful routes"
Me: "not far today, as we did a big ride yester....."
Husband: "do you know what I hate most about cyclists?" 🙄
Saw the same driver on his phone on 2 separate occasions tonight. On the second occasion I mentioned it was illegal for him to use his phone whilst driving. He started gobbing off and calling all sorts of names. The usual stuff, and nothing original.

Some absolutely horrendous driving on display in Richmond Park this afternoon. Worst of all was this close pass on a family cycling. Absolutely disgraceful that vulnerable road users have to put up with this in a park.
Isn't it time horses paid road tax and were genetically modified to have a hi-viz coat, then this poor driver, obviously held up going to work, wouldn't have to take such drastic evasive action? 🤷

Stop the vote! We have our winner for today. Apologies to all the other cuntenders but I think we can close the competition now, because it's going to take something really special to beat this one.
@Chris_Boardman
This is an appallingly irresponsible post, probably designed to be intentionally divisive for. The car driver was doing nothing wrong and the cyclist was paying more attention to being filmed than anything else - she had swerved very close to the line whilst not in appropriate
"Wait until it's wet. Then they'll all be back in their cars."
Or they'll just put on a jacket and enjoy the freedom. Although clearly that bike lane needs expanding now.
Tax paying cyclists provide roads for vehicles like this. Why don't their owners use them?
If you're not going to use them then they may as well be ripped up and made into doorways or cycle lanes.
Tell me again how cyclists paying road tax, and wearing a plastic hat, will make the roads safer.
Clearly someone has been to the

school of driving.

Exactly? Or just a suggestion? Register as a cyclist using the road and wear an armband? Could be used for anyone using the road then.
They know how to do bike parking in Amsterdam. A bit better than locking your bike to a nearby lamppost, hoping that it's still there when you get back.
