@thechosenberg
To be fair I would have been confused too. “Come over now, my roomies are gone” and then her lying on the bed? Ugh, what does it all mean!
@Selkies_
Love to see these horrible, inaccurate takes in the original post and the comments. Reminds me how judging from afar feels right but often leads to huge errors in judgment.

Why do people ALWAYS say this? As if those isolated engineers would get a rocket into space. Of course he needs them, but do you think maybe they need him a bit as well?
@cjamesmay
You managed to just list the pros and not the cons. Congrats!
I live without a house and it is amazing.
No leaky roof.
No energy payments.
No accumulation of stuff.
I live without a partner and it is amazing.
No fighting over who got the good spot under the bridge last time
@the_transit_guy
What? When did I say trains cannot signify quality of life? It is like you are of an ideology and since I don’t agree the first picturing is “horrifying” I must hold the opposite ideology like “trains are bad!!”
@MargrietHoogvli
@Altimor
People in Europe always say this about America and to some degree build quality is indeed worse but not to a degree that really matters.
@eigenrobot
Original prisoner's dilemma actually contains a dilemma in it and your choice costs another player value. This version is like "if you pick red, you go free, and if the other prisoner picks red, they go free, too."
@Duderichy
It is genuinely tough to know where you should give up because you hit your limit dictated by iq and where you should try new routines/medicines/etc.
@littIeramblings
Well for one it implies a more comprehensive understanding.
A kid understands death when she looks it up in the dictionary.
An adult understands death more when her parents die.
An 80 year old groks death when her partner of 50 years dies.
Something like this?
@RebeccaSear
This article is wrong in so many places it is hard to know where to begin. The Guardian got all of the words on their SEO bingo card: tech, tech bros, Elon Musk, Sam Bankman-Fried, billionaire, …
I admittedly have a bit of an inside-view bias but currently highly-confident my daughter is the most beautiful and interesting person there ever was or shall be.
@Austen
Felt this way about the Musk interview which I assume you are referring to and it is unbelievable to me that people think he got owned.
People genuinely view the same material totally differently.
@aribidopsis
Sounds like what I thought when I was twenty when I thought if I did good enough work somehow people would peer in my window and discover it and that marketing myself was dishonest.
@inerati
People like you give me the ick. Smacks of “figured everything out” arrogance + lack of empathy/sympathy with people who might have good reasons not to want to live forever.
@micsolana
So confused by people who are against short selling. I mean, I get their personal incentives to be against it, but do they really believe it is bad?
@nikicaga
Seems like incentives were aligned and so it should have gone through. In other cases it is annoying when people don’t book next to each other and expect you to change your seat for them. That’s pretty antisocial.

I think this cohort showing 8% growth while the median growth stagnates is revelant. What would it take for you to say the economy is booming for poor people?
@liminalsnake
@geoffreyhinton
@pmddomingos
No? Bill Gates pretty much eradicated polio, letting more people live satisfying lives. The trope that it is 'population control' is ridiculously out of bounds.
@Evjbanks
@micsolana
You can short without distorting. Buying and pumping is the same thing on the other side but you don’t think buying is bad I take it.
@AlecStapp
@robertwiblin
Most people are going for the “more than one horse” angle, but how about the fact EA was talking about pandemics before the current one hit?
@adb0wen
As an American living in Europe I couldn’t disagree more. European servers can’t be bothered to give me anything I want, including the bill when I am itching to leave. Europeans behind the counter can’t be bothered to take my order and prefer 1) restocking stuff or 2) chatting.
