really took her role as a fantasy writer to heart, because she's on twitter making up fantasy fiction about trans people. Her fantasy writing has taken a bit of a dark turn, though. In her new fantasy world, trans people are all violent predators.

I'm pretty sure for a libel case I'd need to demonstrate I had suffered, either financially or in some other significant way, or been placed in direct harm because of her statement.
I've certainly received a lot of transphobic hate, I just don't know if that's enough.

Not only are trans people 4 times more likely to be the victims of violent crime, surveys suggest that due to low trust of police in the LGBTQ+ community, 80% of trans people who are the victims of a hate crime don't report it, meaning numbers may be even higher than we realise.

You make a fair point. The definition of veganism that we like to use is "as far as practicable and possible" meaning any animal products you NEED can still be used, but I don't know many vegans who would actually consider a person vegan who wasn't eating plant based.

that's not what happened though, is it. An article spoke about courts requiring trans people's pronouns be respected, and you saw that and immediately jumped to "courts are requiring RAPISTS be respected?!?!?!"
You saw trans and thought "rapist." That's what upset people.

For clarification, my pronouns are they/them. It was about courts requiring people to correctly gender trans people within the court. Rowling immediately made it about protecting rapists, I simply pointed out most trans people in court rooms are victims, witnesses,barristers, etc

If a cis victim misgendered a cis attacker in court they would be required to amend their statement for accuracy. This is no different

I never said they do. But laws about identity can't exclude groups of people, and if we want to protect trans victims, trans witnesses, trans lawyers, trans jurors, and other trans people who enter the court room, then we need regulations that protect all trans people.

If someone has been raped and you're busy arguing about the gender of the attacker or the victim, you're probably part of the problem. I wouldn't be telling a rape victim anything about their attacker. Considering how many trans victims I've seen get ridiculed...
