I'd never live in an HOA neighborhood. In July the milkweed will bloom and you will see about 10 thousand monarchs here every day. Could never do this in a HOA. Makes no sense.
@Lead_Flinger
Spent a fair bit of time with Black and Brown bears in Alaska. It's a bluff charge, scary as hell but once you are trained you think of them as a puppy with the yips. Only happened to me once but in this situation I might have pulled the trigger even with bird-shot.
@AlecStapp
My college roommate was diagnosed with CF when he was 20 (late onset). Was given 10 years to live tops.
I still remember smuggling his pet bird 'Petey' in my coat to visit him in the hospital when it suddenly decided it was time to show symptoms. I think the nurses loved
@volodarik
Lived thru this last year with one of my board roles. The worst part is that the founders had to take roles as employees for 36 months at the new company to get the deal done.
Cap Table drama = Pain.
@EODHappyCaptain
My Dad served three tours in Vietnam in the Big Red One. He just started talking about it and wearing his hat the last five years (he is 76). Hearing people thank him after all these years is better than therapy.
What I would ask is when did you feel the first bit of gratitude
@ricburton
Animal Scientists that one is funny.... ChatGPT going to hit the field and do some studies in the wild?
Maybe a combo with Walle is in order?
@Lead_Flinger
I don't mean literal puppy. They can kill you in a second. I just mean mentality wise. Being stuck out there with bird-shot is the scariest part. I always had a semi-auto 12 gauge with slugs or a 44 Mag pistol. It at least let you be a little judicious with the shot.

Oh Jon. Yes, they are paid. You are missing the point and I promise I'm not trying to argue with you vs educate folks.
They 'sold' their company for mid 8 figures as founders. They spent almost 10 years building it from nothing but took funding that they didn't understand

CEO's get obsessed with their planes once they have them. I have ONE rule. I won't get on a plane that will not make national news if it crashes. Having said that if you are feeling pressured just say your life insurance doesn't cover private plane crashes. Nobody can argue

Befriended more that my fair share of corp attorneys over my career between work and acquisitions. It was always the same once you became friends. Late night calls over about 4 bourbon's just saying how bad they hated their life choices. Money can't buy happiness.

FWIW, as a Gen X'r we all said the same thing in 2009. The ladder is being pulled up, we are doomed. It was also much, much worse. There will be another renaissance for these kids. Stay strong.
@JeffSpies
@sweatystartup
Oh man, I'd love that. Just gotta wait a few months. Last year I even put trails in for my puppy so we could enjoy it. Oh and train her. That double switch back in the middle really got her messed up. BTW, last year was a drought, can you tell?

Once the news of the UPS deal was announced meaning a driver can make $170k a year the world changed, even if its not true unless you work there 15 years.
Now every union has a bar that will drive up wages and in turn inflation in the US while driving down GDP as folks pull

RIP the Northeast when a Hurricane or Blizzard hit. Hope you charge them EV cars up before hand. With the regional fuel mix requirements this could actually get messy.
@sweatystartup
This will not happen because of who the customers are. SVB was literally a bank for the .25% not even the 1%. Now will they find a suitor to make them whole? Of course. But if the fed bails them it will look real, real bad.

LOL...it's not indentured servitude. They can quit and get nothing for all their years of work. Understand your Cap Table kids, things don't always go up and to the right.
@dougboneparth
Oh, this is gold. Little suspense turns the tables completely. Follow it up with a... 'Can you tell me why I'd want to cancel that and work here?'. Guaranteed hire.

Try being in the midwest getting overwhelmed with the Ex FAANG folks who are moving here for a lower cost of living. All claim to be BFF's with Bexos or Zuck. It's comical.
@sweatystartup
Man this got some traction for some odd reason. Since you all like it, I'll cut in some trails and show you all this fall what it looks like. Just know at some point I gotta cut it to keep the briars down.
@DaleStarkA10
Oldest game around. Get a price. Then get the cash price. I know for a lot of kids who don't have checkbooks or cash on hand this will seem insane but it has been going on forever.

Grew up in Akron, they obviously planned the pics for one of the 10 sunny days of the year. Beautiful home but unless you can put it on a trailer I'd have to pass.

Gonna get worse before it gets better. March 2020 was when all the lockdowns started and new inventory production fell off a cliff. This is just the first month on 36 month lease turn ins.

Went to lunch a few months ago. 7 guys all ex CIO/CTO's all between 38-60....all quit and don't plan on going back. The irony is it's way worse than that chart. They all show employed on this metric via their one man 'consulting' firms they setup to tell their wives they have
@DonMiami3
You know in 2002 and 2009 when I was younger I thought the same thing. Like someone pulled the ladder up just when I was reaching for the first rung. Was wrong then, probably wrong now.
@BowTiedBroke
Gotta say man after 23 years to be at that you certainly did back up your tweet about being a bad stock picker. 😂 What were the expenses on those funds 15% or something?
@GuyDealership
We are literally in just the second month of this cycle. In April 2020 all new car production shut down for an extended period. No new off lease vehicles in 2023. Even fewer in 2024. Even 2025 is jacked up. Only used cars available will be pre March 2020.
@paik_michael
Here is my FOMO tweet. Bought a stock called Nanopierce in the 90's for 12 cents. Sold it at $3. Bought a house BUT it went to $5.25 so I was devastated. 12 months later went bankrupt...turns out I won. Lesson is take your wins and be thankful, the ride ends at some point.

To me the bigger issue of this is how these AI related stocks are absolutely destroying the entire ETF premise of diversification. QQQ is now 46% in the top 10 stocks. Ironically VOO isn't far behind. Costco is the ONLY non-AI play stock.
@BowTiedKong
Lot of bad posted in responses. I know it's tough but here is how I would think of it. You were the ONE person they trusted enough to do it right, meaning they respected you. Ultimate compliment to whomever is trusted enough to be in this role. I know it sucks.
@VivekGRamaswamy
Organic Chem was my biology career downfall. At my time (mid 90's) it was literally just a bunch of sticks and balls you had to figure out how to put together for the tests. 80%+ failure rate. It was literally how they figured out who should actually be a doctor. Not wrong.
@GuyDealership
We JUST hit the inflection point of leased vehicles maturing from 2020. OOPS...there were no leased vehicle in 2020 since everything was shut down. 2021? Nope, didn't happen. We are in a 24 month withdrawal cycle not a normal cycle. Going to be interesting to see how it

Coming from tech and then getting immersed in health care the similarities are identical.
Growing up in the 90's we always worshipped doctors and lawyers. They had the biggest houses, best cars etc. Now that I understand how they did it I have both deep respect and empathy.

Used car dealers only choices are…
1) sell pre 2020 high mileage or
2) pay up big for low mile off-lease which are constrained exponentially and also means raises their prices to match wholesale.
It’s that time of year when we start cleaning up the gardens. Thought I’d have a few things ready but holy cow. Homemade spicy marinara incoming. FWIW I did have to buy the onions as we already ate all ours. Almost $4 for two. Next year is full on onions, potatoes, peppers etc.

Having grown up as the son of a commercial HVAC contractor I'd caveat this a bit to "Learn a Trade with a Heated and Cooled Cab ASAP." Cranes, Tractors, CDL's etc. Nothing worse than being on a roof in 110 or -20 degree temps pumping Freon.

Easy answer is the banks foregoing net interest rate spreads as a mechanism to boost stock price. People aren't moving because the are scared. They are moving because you can earn over 5% in a money market versus .025% at the bank. Investors won't like it but that is the only
