I worked in an ED that had a similar process, and, the staff would actually bring in lightly used clothes collected by one of the allied health depts. to be added to the supply on hand. The sneaker thing was in place as well. Never really appreciated how special 1/2

As an ED RN, my training now just comes naturally & is on duty 24/7. Without really thinking about it, I maintain situational awareness, assess people & my immediate surroundings. Avoid risks & harm by assessing, categorizing & prioritizing my actions based on acuity - daily.

Or meaningful this was. After transferring to a health system with Magnet facilities I was completely confused when we DC’d ED pts in gowns or scrubs. Not one Dept thought having some extra clothes on hand could really put Press Ganey scores over the top 🙄

That being said .. the rhetoric changed drastically over the course of past few days. There were a lot of opinions being blasted.. then came the “evidence.” It’s interesting to watch the evolution of the discourse .. key take away - wait for facts, then have at it.

Another word I can’t stand that we have become way to comfortable with when describing ourselves — resilient .. be sure I was victimized by traumatic experiences in nursing and now exhibit certain traits recognized by mental health professionals 🙄
