For those that read sport science textbooks please read this (an email I just sent, now blinded) - as most times the content is developed off the backs of experts, who do it for free, and then give up copyright. The scientific publishing industry model has to change.

For years "lactate" has been the devil. It's not! Correlations w/ fatigue aren't causative: if you read anything today, please read this: . (now associated acidosis (pH) is another story, and also controversial, but it's not lactate!).

The concept of "expert" seems nearly lost, especially when it comes to nutrition. Everyone eats - but does that make everyone an expert on nutrition? Would you take cardiac surgery advice from someone who did not go to med school? Be weary of self-proclaimed nutrition "experts".

Real world example of how Relative Energy Deficit in Sport (RED-S) limits performance. Amenorrheic athletes have 8.0% lower HBmass than eumenorrheic. Yet, many spend thousands of dollars to go to altitude for less of an HBmass increase. Adequate energy=more optimal blood health.

Anyone that has every worked with me on any training monitoring/tracking will know how much I love ratings of perceived exertion (RPE) along with an external load metric - this huge data set-shows how great this simple approach can be!

Much recent discussions on elite female runners, pregnancy & performance. Data I've collected in 10 elites. 1 year of maternity leave is mythical, as (on avg w/ large error bars) significant injuries & decreased performance. Year 2 = completely different story & worth investment!

there is a lot of mis-information about menstrual cycles & performance-lets stick with evidence. New meta-analysis (n=51 studies) on menstrual cycle status/phase and performance outcomes - too variable for strong outcomes = individualize! OPEN ACCESS!

The @bostonmarathon results are unique this year. But, after seeing this meticulous preparation by @kristaduchene & team, and background context, her third place finish might not be surprising. I'm proud to have worked w/ her, @realdst & entire @Speedriver group over the years.

Serious selection of sauces, spices and condiments at the Olympic Village. Honestly, I would say thus far the food at the Tokyo Olympics has been the best of any Games I've been to.

Study: Nutrition professionals (RD's) demonstrate greater knowledge than Registered Exercise Professionals - with implications on scope of practice. Just like you wouldn't go to anyone for heart surgery, don't get nutrition advice from non-professionals:

I've experienced this positive outcome many times...in athletes that are willing to take a risk (their words) and shift their relationship with food. Food = fuel and fuel = performance. Great article:

WOW! Another example of why Mother Nature knows best- even Ibuprofen has profound side effects-600mg/day of ibuprofen for 1.5 months induced conditional hypogonadism in men via a 23% decrease in free testosterone/LH ratio. Don’t pop pills indiscriminately!

Outstanding ⁦ @ACSMNews ⁩ Wolffe Lecture by Prof Stuart Warden. Running is not that osteogenic, adapts very quickly within a single run and early specialization in running increases risk of BSIs. Multi direction sports, jumping and strength work all required.
