@ScoreboardAJ Olivia and I are racing in Dudince the following weekend. My other athlete who is a U20 isn’t ready for a fast 10km yet as the focus is on form at the moment. Was really excited for that extra month in the summer for him.

I’m not sure who pays for it these days. AC said they weren’t sending a team because the dates don’t align with Nationals (July 31-Aug 3) whereas FISU is July 21-28 in Germany. And because there was an existing U23 opportunity (Pan-Am Jr Games). But given that opportunity is only going to be for our 20 highest ranked interested athletes, I feel we are still left with a huge developmental hole. But maybe I’m wrong, I just know how important FISU was for keeping me in the sport as I struggled with the Jr to Sr transition. Feel like with COVID cancellations and the schedule never really returning to what it was before, and NACAC being so pitifully disorganized, that we aren’t helping young senior athletes as much as we used to.

Better yet, why not buy a table to our Creating Community Champions Gala supporting KidSport Richmond on Feb 28th! You’ll get to mingle with our awesome athlete ambassadors including Olympic champions, Grey Cup winners, Canucks alumni, Whitecaps & more! Tables start at $2800, which ensures 7+ kids in Richmond get a season of sport! If interested, I’ll point you in the right direction.

@DrewRickard2 Brilliant! Enjoy NZ. My Nana grew up in Wellington and I got a lot of family over there. Love it, one of the best places on earth.

@JarydClifford @AthleticsCanada @BC_Athletics Just trying to follow your lead! (Being impressive that is, not being annoyingly close to an arbitrary time barrier 😂)

Definitionally we are judged by the human eye. Judges at this level should be able to detect flight times around 40-50ms (3 frames at 60 frames/ second) whereas obviously cameras can pick up any. As such, seeing a little bit of loss of contact at slow motion or photos is standard. That said… this was the last 20m or so and I was maybe pushing beyond my limits the last little bit trying to dip under 38:10. So, definitely more loss of contact than I’d like to see myself having!

@mmgreid @AthleticsCanada @BC_Athletics 38:25 from this race last year, so a pretty healthy chunk of time off. Goal was 38:20, but I honestly wasn’t even sure if that was going to be on the table so very pleased (although also wishing I’d found a few more seconds early on to have had a serious go at 37:xx)
