If you don't feel upset and angry that many doctors are going to be unemployed, whilst cheaper, less trained staff are brought in to replace them, I question why? Maybe the powers that be have already won, or maybe you never cared in the first place? Either way it is very sad.

Doctors were pretty apathetic then, Anons didn't exist but there was a growing disenchantment with how doctors were treated, paid, deprofessionalised etc. The learnt behaviour was to 'shut up and put up' with a very paternalistic approach from the medical leaders of the day 2/x

I hope it has. But I know it probably hasn't. But I have never regretted telling the truth. My Dad died last year and him and Mum always taught me "to thine own self be true" - I have always kept that in my mind and always will.

- GI trainees must wait until ST4 to scope but feasibly a PA could do it post a 2 year course - if short of scopers why not train SAS, FY, IMT doctors
- PAs not the same as nurse endoscopists (most of them very senior or endo nurses pre scoping) 3/x

you as an individual. I put myself forward for the relevant committees to truly represent my peers (and always did this) and did speak directly to the key decision makers but I will admit I often felt surrounded by a sea of apathy (from fellow committee members) 2/

I still don't feel comfortable you can fully reset when those involved in the need for a reset remain in position? Does anyone get held accountable now? Has what we have seen with the government regarding not resigning (over resigning matters) pervaded into medicine too?

The thing is no one is surprised by this - it is always the 'usual suspects'. If it was a GP I'd put money on it being Gerada, or Stokes-Lampard; in medicine it would have to be someone completely disconnected from the front door such as Dacre, Carol Black and so it goes on... /1

It is a massive problem for the GMC, NHSE, many colleges & 'senior leaders' in NHS trusts - the vast majority of doctors have zero trust in them, and so zero faith they will be listened to. I don't know how you restore trust now it is broken, but again don't trust them to fix it

Prof Oliver is right. This is where the focus needs to be - ensuring the ideological politicisation of the GMC (via named individuals and Massey) is undone ASAP. Until this happens, there is no end in sight with this mess or future disasters. Honesty, integrity and trust matters

So I felt like a lone voice at times or the one screaming into the void (metaphorically) so I was easy to ignore. I tried to galvanise others but understandably many felt uninvested in the future (was not going to affect them) & did not want to risk being labelled as 'trouble' 3/
