1 case of Covid in Perth, Western Australia today. The first for 10 months. The response? Full lockdown for 5 days including mandatory facemasks. This is how you protect the people. Makes a mockery of UK PM saying "We did everything we could"
Just had to speak to my daughter, a medical student and advise her not to go out anywhere and stay on campus apart from teaching placements. I never thought I would have to say this to her. My parents had to tell us the same in the 70s.

I also worked for many years hours similar to you, on a 1 in 3 rota with internal cover and shifts as long as 80 hours without a break. This was unsafe and nothing to be proud of. I fully support the juniors trying to get the pay they deserve and improve their work conditions.
Thanks for highlighting this again, Rachel. It seems to get worse. I consider myself as a cancer specialist after working in the NHS for over 30 years. I only considered myself being labelled as a specialist in cancer after being appointed as a colorectal cancer consultant in

Brazil on the verge of collapse of it's healthcare system. This of course was highly predictable due to the denial of the problem from Bolsonaro. Almost 300 000 deaths. Rampant P1 variant. Few vaccines. Sadly Brazil has taught us how not manage a pandemic.

Congratulations to my dear brother Khamis Elessi who became the first Professor of Medicine in The Gaza Strip today. One of the most inspirational people that I have ever met.
Travelling by tube to work today, it is obvious that to many people the lockdown is essentially over. So many people outside, few masks being worn. Let's not forget that there are 2000+ new cases every day and this week there were 300+ daily deaths.

Like many, I haven't been able to sleep tonight. We are witnessing genocide with tacit approval by our own government. The world will never be the same after this. We will never forget.
It's obvious that the nation and government needs to show their gratitude. Not by clapping on Thursdays but offering improved pay and working conditions. They are the soul of the nation and offer the very best of humanity when we need it most.
Speaking to friends at Shifa Hospital tonight as they have been told that the hospital will shut shortly.

1. If all patients were able to be treated, there would still 250,000 deaths in GB and 1.1-1.2 million in US
