This is a very inspiring news. Congratulations to all involved. India was a leader in scientific achievements even as late as early 1800s. Even during British time India's steam ship building industry was better than British shipyards. Based on complaints on English shipbuilding industry, in 1815 the British Parliament passed the Registry Act which placed tight rerstrictions on Indian Ships and Sailors from accessing British ports. Hope the allied technologies from ISRO can be licensed to help all Indian's get better quality of life.

Wish you all a Happy Makar Sankranti. During this time people make various traditional sweets. Today's generation is not as eager as the previous generation to make traditional sweets due to the laborious process and time it takes. Cost of ingredients is a factor as well. The cost of palua a kind of arrowroot has gone through the roof and I dont often see palua khiri. People still make Rashi khiri in western odisha on #MakarSankranti . This year is mourning so no sweets at our place. Early part of my childhood was spent in Berhampur in Odisha. On Makar Sankranti we used to have #Bhogi . It was a community festival burning a big bonfire, baking sweet potato etc...Those were simple times. Everybody knew everybody. Today in apartments & Colonies that is not the case. Missing it in bhubaneswar. I am not aware how they are celebrating these days. Look forward to hearing about it. And some pictures if anyone has clicked.

It was nice watching dance performances with the Mukteswar temple as backdrop. For #PravasiBharatiyaDivas there were dance performances infront of the Lingaraj temple as well and I saw quite a few people watching it. It would be nice if kids from different schools are given chance to perform (especially Odishi dance) in front of Lingaraj temple throughout the year on a rotation basis, then it will help spread awareness and appreciation of our dance and culture. And kids will gain confidence. It would be pertinent to mention that #Beatles band performed in Germany in clubs every weekend and gained confidence, refined their craft and then they came back to US and became super hit.
