Aspiring fantasy epic writer with a love of the surreal that hopes to create worlds that millions can enjoy. I can do prose, outlines, and screenplays.
@RiseFallNickBck
The show heavily implied that the biggest reason Eustace is the way he is is because he was almost never shown kindness growing up. He's mean, but he has his moments of vulnerability and compassion.
@cypopps
I feel we have a fixation on doing the right thing. When we're young, we look to the rules for a guiding light, but after we get to know the world (and humanity) we realize that rules don't always align with what's right, especially when we consider who wrote them.

Zheng Yi Sao was born into poverty, and a pirate fleet Commander took her from prostitution as his wife, when he died, she took the reigns to built one of the most powerful pirate fleets in history and went toe to toe with two Asian empire naval forces and the East India Company

Finn comes from a post-apocalyptic world where all human history and culture has been lost, so there's no longer any true barriers between races anymore.
And the world is now populated by so many non-humans that ethnicities only amount to one's species at best.
@ZakaZ96
Say what you want about Netflix.
At least for the moment, they're the home of the unconventional stories that the public is waiting to experience.
@JaylanHamilton6
@Alberto9Herrera
It's obvious. The ones that call the shots at Netflix don't watch that stuff and listen to blatantly biased "industry experts" instead of the actual fans instead. That's how network animation went downhill.

Not exactly. It's more like fast money. They basically want something to reap almost immediately after sewing.
Like I keep paraphrasing:
Executives would rather make 1 billion in a year than 20 billion in ten years.

The best part is that in the manga, it was implied he would come back to pick him up, but his (somewhat rightfully) cheesed off cousin demanded custody of the kid and told him to never come back.

Well...
The reality is that a lone, unattended young black girl is more likely to end up as the victim of a random act of murder then... well... almost anyone else.

Most people tend to focus on the part of the story where the equivalent of Superman butchered the equivalent of the Justice League so as to prepare the Earth for conquest. And from then, they tend to just focus on the butcherings and violence instead of the story or characters.
@MorePerfectUS
There's one huge conspiracy in America: Rich people and businesses are trying to get away with maximizing profits at the expense of the wellbeing of the public.
Unfortunately,nobody seems to catch on to it.

Hm. Seems to me that it's a case of Nintendo never changing their approach to development since the SNES era, but the rest of the industry did. Just... only for the worst.
@lyctorprince
@jenn0wow
Writing isn't as easy as it sounds either. It's one thing to have an idea for a story, but writing means that you have to put it into words, make it comprehensible, and organize it all into a beginning, middle, and end. And then there's character development and deus ex machina.
@MorePerfectUS
"If we stop rich and powerful people from exploiting everyone, they're sure to do something really really bad to us!"
Same argument, different podium.
@MorePerfectUS
People lambast the government nonstop, but act like the private sector can do no wrong because of "the market" or "economics" when the reality is that they throw all that out the window to chase the most short-term route to politics no matter how unethical.

The irony is that the real reason young people aren't having kids is that they're broke.
Decades of conservative policy has made sure that young people have nothing to conserve.

The government is harmless compared to the private sector.
In fact, ALL the harm modern governments do is because of the private sector.
THAT'S the reality. And the reality is that "small government" will ALWAYS mean more power and less oversight for the infernal private sector

Nobody is going to take your side on this man, give up and walk away. You have a right to be a megalomaniac in your own home but if you're going public with it you'll have to face the scrutiny of a public too stubborn to give up on the common decency and kindness of humanity.

This isn't your grandma's Eggman. Archie Eggman/Robotnik was NOT funny (not counting the more comedic origins of the comic). Let's just say his dialogue alone would be enough to make an M-rated Sonic game.

This is what few people understand about debt: The quantity of a debt, even in a dollar amount, does not always equal its actual in the same currency. It can be a fraction of it, the logic of squeezing blood from a stone.

Hot polar regions = rising warm air = pushing cold air to rest of planet = extreme cold across planet.
Greater quantities of precipitation + polar vortex = record snowfall.

I can forgive a character being a mouthpiece for a writer's hot takes if its done right. Like Granny Weatherwax from Terry Pratchett's Discworld, which is essentially a commentary on life, society, and human nature disguised as British Comedy and a parody of Fantasy tropes.
@MegaDriveBrad
The only reason why I dispense hate is because I know it this series can do better.
We can have a fun-loving Sonic with actually intelligent dialogue.
We can have a Tails that's able to push past his insecurities.
We can have a stubborn, naive, but surprisingly deep Knuckles.
