It’s possible, but it’s not obligatory. If those who have survived genocide and pogroms want to tell their stories, which may demonize their persecutors, I think that is their right
saddened and disappointed to see this kind of religious bigotry.
the utterance is common among many Hindus, and usually means "bless you", "go with God", or the like. it's often a greeting.

Modi's electoral dog whistle is vile. It should be condemned.
But the purported historical reading on which Tegh Bahadur's religion was irrelevant to his execution on the orders of Aurangzeb is the erasure of religious persecution--of Sikhs.
No one should stand for it.
Does treating a Justice rudely matter? If so, shouldn’t it be of deep concern to us that law is being made based on how nice some rando attorney is to one of the elders?
@equalityAlec
i know you all agreed that the number of police isn't central, but if they want 500,000 more cops and they say the number is 697,195, but the number is actually 1,227,788, can we just fire 30,000 cops and call it even?

if you are writing about South India and find yourself writing "I realize I am copping to my own biases by listing Hindi movies," delete everything and start over

Governor Newsom says that caste is already covered by CA anti discrimination law and is thus unnecessary. Yet we see defendants arguing that it isn’t, and resulting confusion.
If there was only a way to clarify the law to make it clear. Perhaps through a “bill” of some kind?
@donmoyn
Every once in a while a public university will announce their open application process for head football/basketball coach, and naturally I’ll throw my hat in the ring

It would also be very funny if scotus was like “that’s unconstitutional” and uncie Joe was like “haha fuck off” and everybody was cool with that
I am going to write an op-ed explaining why plagiarism is fine, plagiarism rules are bad & the plagiarism police should shut up. Where should I try to publish it?

Wax then attacks Indian immigrants for criticizing things in the US when "their country is a shithole" and goes on to say that "the role of envy and shame in the way that the third world regards the first world [...] creates ingratitude of the most monstrous kind."

There should be no room for heinous, sexist, or dehumanizing criticism, but why should students be off limits for criticism when they go on national media to talk about a matter of public concern?
interesting these academics recite the ignorant comment there is no "significant" anti-hindu discrimination in the US

I don’t think that’s the policy.
My understanding is that they will evacuate any Indian national, and will issue emergency visas to any Afghan, regardless of religion. They initially said they were prioritizing Afg Hindus and Sikhs. Is that not right?
DeSantis is our generations JFK
He’s
- A family man
- Faithful to his wife
- Young gun who brings energy to the party
I see no reason why we shouldn’t nominate DeSantis

I’m saying: It would be pretty hilarious if they were like, “We fired whatshisname. That’s the joke. He thought he was going to be on SNL but yeah-no. Not funny? Comedy’s about risks, sorry!”

The odd thing is that the response is that people in power need to be shaken up, but this always disrupt the lives of people *not in power* much more. This guy has to get his daughter, somebody needs to get to their tenuous job, etc

That there was a Hindu genocide does not mean nobody but Hindus were killed. It means that Hindus were targeted for their Hindu identity (while others may have been targeted for aspects of their identity simultaneously). Are you denying that happened?
One time in LA, I got food from this food truck called “No Tomatoes Indian Food.” The guy just hated tomatoes. Food was delicious. Think about that dude a lot.

It seems to me that receiving information from someone else about another game you aren’t involved in is “the agent relationship” referenced re UM allegations, and thus is illegal scouting in the same way
it may be used by religious fanatics, but that shouldn't taint its common, benevolent usage.
Hindus are (justly) called to condemn bigotry and fanatical thinking. one part of that is not letting core features and practices of Hinduism be coopted by fringe elements.
@thomasdggeddes
What’s your substantiation for the claim that Hindu nationalism is a factor? As far as I can tell, the opposition also has a similar view of China—and indeed has complained that the current government hasn’t done enough to oppose the threat.
Basic Tilak (तिलक) types:
Urdhva Pundra (Vaishnava) - One or more vertical lines with soil from banks of holy rivers / sandalwood / gopi chandan.
Tripundra (Shaiva) - Three horizontal lines with holy bhasma.
Bindu (dot) / Ardha-chandra with kumkum, haldi, bhasma, chandan etc.
